What if pigs could fly? You are making an exaggerated hypothetical to argue against.
All front-of-the-line politicians are people who covet a better position than what they have, are motivated by self interest, and think that their wanting of better position is the same thing as fairness.I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. -אלוהים אדירים

It's not really that he does it...it's how he does it.
He's not friendly with people, he's selfish, hostile, and aggressive. If you're selfish, hostile, and aggressive with thousands of people over thousands of instances, better be ready for people to recall that behavior when you're in the news.

7am for a chairlift? I don't understand the culture, but it seems kinda silly to get all aggro for one lap of "glory".

People hold spots for friends in the first ten rows at least. He is hardly the only one in the Alta lineup doing this.
This. Alta could end early spot-holding forever opening day this year if they wanted, take it up with them. Or, you could just not be a pussy and put on your skis next to him anyway. What's he going to do, punch you? If he does, charge him with assault and laugh when he goes to jail.

^^^Just another reason why The Bird is such a better ski "experience" than Alta. Why anyone would put up with this shit, I have no idea.
As far as "pussy"s go, immediately after he (or anyone) gets aggressive, just jab him in the eye with your pole, and them pummel him. You may lose a day, or season at Alta, but I bet you would become a legend, and this bullshit would surely stop. Why would you ever allow this sort of self-proclaimed "rockstar" bully take advantage, or hit you first?"My policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day's work for an honest day's pay; live within your means; put by a nest egg for a rainy day; pay your bills on time; support the police." Hope he's ok, but that interview makes him seem like a raging cunt. If I'm in line at 8 and my friends get there at 9, they know they're not cutting the line... simple etiquette.

Fighting over first chair................brilliant douchebaggery at its finest.

the only reason nobody beats his ass is any time this shit is going on it's an epic day and nobody wants to jeopardize their epic day to teach this douche a lesson.
What really should have happened is somebody should have just beat his ass into the parking lot slush at the end of the day.
I think I didn't dare do anything like that because I viewed Alta as a sort of sacred experience with its own traditions and characters and if everyone was kowtowing to this guy I sure as shit wasn't going to go swooping in there from out of town insisting that everyone do it my way.

LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON – Police are searching for an Alta man who has been missing since Monday afternoon.
48-year-old Corry Ehlers is an avid hiker who told his girlfriend he was going for a hike in Little Cottonwood Canyon on Monday.
Police say Ehlers left his cell phone and car behind at a condo he was supposed to be moving out of on Monday. They found that car and another one belonging to him in Sandy, both filled with his belongings.
A search team of helicopters, ski patrol, rescue dogs and ATVs has combed the mountainside near Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Anyone else thinking suicide might be a possibility? Imagine if all that aggro were turned inward...Wag more, bark less

I wasn't gonna say it but yeah. This kind of aggressive acting out is often based on feelings of inadequacy and depression.
Regardless of his behavior, sounds like a bad place to be. Hope he's all right. There's nothing better than sliding down snow and flying through the air.

I thought that from the outset. Hopefully the guy's okay. As someone mentioned before, it sounds like he has a kid. Kids need their parents. There are other possibilities - Since it sounds like he's not with the kid's mom, this could be some sort of disappearance scheme to avoid child support. Or, it could be that, after his hike he took his shit down to Sandy, jumped into a friend's car and went to the desert for a week and didn't tell his girlfriend because he wanted to reduce his 100 problems down to 99. Who knows.
From the descriptions in this thread, it sounds like this guy and "Papabro" (the guy who yelled at luffski) have a lot in common. I've skied at alta for years and have never seen any douchebaggery over lift lines. I really had no idea lift line hierarchy was cool up there. I generally don't care, though. Another 10 people in front of me in the lift line makes no difference. Or maybe I just have yet to tangle with some of these douches.
Anyway, hope the guy's okay. I hope he did just take off to the desert for a week of mushrooms and comes back with a more mellow perspective on life and skiing.

I SO want to just casually release a can of bear spray into the lift line just before the JONG show starts at rope drop. Oh, the hilarity...
