Its kind of like buying the competition, although for a while Burke was the better option due to less crowds. But now with the new chair @ Burke its kind of a wash. Can there be two golf courses/amazement parks so close together, and both still be profitable? Maybe it should be interesting.
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

My guess, golf will stay at Jay, MTB (lift served) will get even bigger at Burke.
Burke will get more snowmaking capacity, a slopeside hotel, the old Willoughby quad will get moved to East Bowl, and maybe a new Mid-Burke lodge within the next three years.
I hope the new owner realize that the East Bowl area will be much more attractive if it is left gladed rather than mowed down for open trails. But we do know Jay Peak does know a bit about how glades are marketable
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

IMO, this is great for NEK but that is from an outsider business perspective. The JP management has a proven track record and this should be good for the year round economy up that way. Change happens but get involved and voice your concerns to influence that change.
I don't think we should worry about East Bowl cut into Sunday River runs. Jay definetely gets that. Sooo many good days tits deep . . .
I wish this well for all.Last edited by lynchdogger; 05-26-2012 at 09:10 AM. Reason: grammar

burke was never really any competition for jay, and probably never will be. burke better option due to less crowds? always, but with an average of like 18 cars in the lot on a mid week day, 26 on a pow day (not including the academy kidz) how could jay be better? can't even compare the two, unless jay got a bunch of snow and burke got zilch. 4-6" at burke and 10-12" at jay? burke still the much better option imo. burke's understory allowed shallower depths of new to ski much better than more at jay oftentimes.
new chair=bye bye good ole burke. east bowl chair? fucking double ruined. having to traverse all of the way out kept many folks from wanting to ski over there. But now with the new chair @ Burke its kind of a wash.
will be interesting fer sure. i guess.
