This place cracks me up...I think our entire race class has a baby at home. Might be a link between that and why we are all doing this thing

Hope to ride with ya one day soon Marshal...Thanks for the tire beta...Maybe I'll just man up and keep running the BBG's on both ends. After all, that's free.
Flowtron - you seriously think you will lose because your tire choice get's copied, wow

Yeah, sorry. I'm in the modified DINK class(SINK) as I currently have no job and am riding the shit out of my bike to make up for lost time this spring.
And just for you phatfreeheeler, it rhymes with mossbark.Bike Shop Bully

I know a lot of people that would kill to be in your SINK class, silly not to take advantage of it, but yes you should have to climb while dragging one of my DIB class friends behind.
Do I get an extra handicap for having 2 kids ages 3 and under that hate to sleep because they might miss out on all the fun

Just over a week to go. Stokered! Rode the entire course this weekend with the race promoter, it's actually a REALLY good set of trails. Can't wait.

I did a lunch ride mission today, and they had already fixed up a few of the speed bumps and were cutting in a new finish below the gondola angle station. Should be more better. I stopped and told the trackhoe operator to build a booter at the finish line. He seemed to consider the idea... fingers crossed. They're supposed to have it all done by next Wed., so Thurs/Fri should be ideal practice times. Thinking I might have to do another lunch mission Thurs., maybe Friday as well. But it'd be like a 35-40 minute ride time for me... hit me up if interested J.

Geez, sorry to interrupt the 'I've got a baby' thread, I was looking for the Wasatch Enduro Mountain Bike Race thread.

edit- Whiny rant:
So I rode insurgent, and lower Holly's for the first time in years. I never thought much of "Holly's Downhill" but WHAT THE HOLY FUCK!!???!!??11
Who is responsible for that shit? I thought about asking for a refund for the race just to make a point. Those are not "technical features", they're pretty much designed to fuck bikers up. What are they trying to do? It's called "Holly's Downhill trail", it's been a downhill bike trail since it was named. I actually think it's irresponsible for them to run a race on that shit. They portray this thing as a 'world class event' but it's starting to look like a joke for not being on top of it and allowing that to happen on their course in the first place.
Don't get me wrong, I got over the stuff but some of them are almost impossible to hit without smacking your bash on rock, and they already bear the scars to prove it. Others send you into blind corners in the air, still others send you airing into foot high stone steps. I just don't get it.
/whiny rant
Anyway, I'm registered and will probably be riding the courses tomorrow evening if anyone wants to join.Last edited by beaterdit; 07-13-2012 at 11:42 AM.

OK, just checked the site and it looks like they'll be "fixing" the speed bumps on the 16th-18th. Makes me feel a little better but still, did they forget to tell the Canyons that they were holding a bike race there, WTF? Now we can't train on the trail as it will be until thursday. Which incidentally means I can't personally get on it till friday evening to see what it's gonna look like. I'm not winning anything either way but the whole thing just reeks of shitshow to me.
Pardon me for getting a little hot about the obstacles but I'm just not comrehending WTF happened up there. There's nothing better than sliding down snow and flying through the air.

The nice thing about racing is that everyone has to ride same course

beaterd, check this thread on emptybeer for all the background on it:
http://forums.mtbr.com/utah/have-you...ly-795312.html
I don't think it'll change that much as far as how you practice it now to the race. The speed bumps will be smoothed out into something like less bucky jumps, it's not like the trail itself is changing. They are doing a new finish in the grassy area at the bottom, but that's something you can check out from the base easily.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking the same thing. I'm a bit bitter as well because I just spent 3 days riding Trestle; REALLY love what they are doing and can't wait for the Enduro there (I'll be in that one as well). I ended up buying a pass to Canyon and feel dirty about it. Next year I will have a Winter Park pass (buying one this year too).

Based on the latest changes I wouldn't even come close to calling lower Holly's dangerous. I actually found it fun as shit to see how fast I could pump, pop off of, and work the "obstacles". To a guy like me, the dangerous part of the course is middle Insurgent. I could see that blowing out and changing into an out of control mess of steep hidden roots.
There is always a part of the course some people like and others don't. You just need to toughen up and stop being such a baby Beaterdit
Hoping to rally up there after work and get another inspection lap in if the rain doesn't hit too hard.

Some of the only lift served jumps in the state (Brianhead has two or three; I've been asked to help make a new DH trail there and will let everyone know when that comes about, if it does). I'm whining because I travel too much, see what others are doing and wonder why UT can't seem to get it. There is quite a thread on MTBR in the UT section about Hollies. Seems most professional trail builders and UT riders love the direction the state is going; I don't. I really do wish I could dedicate more time to building (like what the guys did on Arcylon) but it seems like when I do, it becomes a very frustrating compromise. Ride the Moose Hollow DH trail in Draper, you'll see what I mean. Then ride the Rush trail, it makes you want to get a road bike. I've been cleaning trail in Moab this year instead, at least it seems to be a place that gets it.
In that same thread, one of the builders actually feels that Jackson /Teton Pass does not even compare to what UT has now. I agree, except that I feel Teton blows us away, not the other way around. And Canyon / Basin Rec needs to go ride there and Winter Park to get an idea of what is actually “progressive” in 2012 (not 1998). Even the green XC trails in WP are great… just sayin."People blame me because these water mains break, but I ask you, if the
water mains didn't break, would it be my responsibility to fix them then?
WOULD IT!?!"

Haters gonna hate.
Let's not lose sight of the reality here: We have a real, bonafide, legit enduro race in our back yard. That is awesome.
But hey, it's bike racing - and what do we do when we race bikes? Complain of course! (I'm as guilty as anyone)I'm so hardcore, I'm gnarcore.
