^Shit, seriously, its the same fucking day? I vowed to never again venture into Summit county when that is going on. Damn.

Nevermind, I read your post and thought Ragnar. Shouldn't be too horrible.

yeah, should be fine...XC weenies can go do their 50 mile sufferfest and us people who just like to ride bikes with friends, chatting on the climbs and pinned into corners on the down can do our thing in peace.

36 people signed up in AM 30-39. Chock full of flat-out RINGERS. Going to be the biggest/most competitive field I've ever raced in, by far. Should be fun!

He has the whole thing mapped out, Strava'd and POV'd - it's all fun singletrack, high speed, some tech but mostly just ski resort blasting. Fun trails. No bike park stuff a la Trestle.

p.s. is anyone going out to Ely, NV for Fears, Tears and Beers? I'm thinking of pulling off a crazy day trip to do it. I raced it two years ago in the snow and mud, and still had a blast.

Haven't touched Holly's in at least a year, and never ridden Insurgent. So what are people thinking for tires? I don't seem to be man enough to run my BBG's in the gravel over hardpack conditions of late. I keep having unplanned front end drifts that have scared the crap out of me. I might keep it on the rear, but we'll see.

Hope they are still planning on pulling out the logs or this is going to be one unusual race.

insurgent is pretty fun... sorta steep in a few spots, decent catch berms under each one, fairly fast, and a little raw up top by mid-mountain. just a good fun-times trail bike trail. not too rocky, not super pedally, but will be rad to pin with 30 of your buddies.

holly's is, of course wicked pedally, with sharp berms and lung bursting sprints out of them. too be determined if they actually fix holly's but its pretty retarded at the moment, weird log step things with funky rock ramps on each log. its basically very dangerous last time i rode it. as long as they pack the rocks with dirt and make them little table tops, it will be good times.

    tires:
    BBG front, happy medium rear.

Happy Medium, eh? Someone's looking to win or DNF

Thanks for the trail update. Hope you're diggin Utah. I might have to go ride the course with my XC light wheels and 2.25 Hutchinson Cobras and see if they and I survive. Anyone else have a tire they think will dominate this type of course?

the happy medium has as much or more center-line pedal/braking traction as a racing ralph or nobby nic 2.4 but with real cornering knobs, and well, it rolls like a champ.

hit me up if you ever want to ride before work. nobody here seems to be into getting up before 8:30 (cough...cough... particle? dfinn?)

Heh, I'm all about the pre-work rides, just have to have a wife at home for baby duty. She leaves at 6:30AM on mornings she's on duty so those days just don't happen for me. Let's do it soon though.

When did Marshall move to Utah, I didn't even know that. Awesome, we'll have to get out and shred one of these days.

We have a 10 month old, btw. I see some playdates in the future.
