    Paging Likwid, Suit, Sagamoron, etc.

    The hunt is on, maybe.

Looking for a 28-34 ft express type. Needs to sleep 2 adults, 2 kids. Fishing and cruising primarily. Want diesel I think.

Looking at Pursuit, Black Fin, Rampage, Luhrs, Tiara, etc.

    My favorite so far-

Anyone been on a Pursuit 3000 express or OS?

I think I might have to start diving, and wake surfing.

    Diesels or outboards?
    How did it ride?
    WOT?
    Cruise?

I am just getting into the search, and trying to come to grips with $1200 fill ups, and 2.3 MPG.
No good info on fuel burn for the older diesels, but I know a bunch of guys here running diesel I/O's. They are getting 8-10 GPH.

Pursuit's website shows a 2.34 MPG burn on twin Yammi 300's.
Test on a lake, no tide, no wind, 1/2 tank, 2 ppl, no gear, brand new engines. Basically, a vacuum. It only gets worse from there. I figure 1.6 MPG is good for twins.

My Bad he had 34 express.

    He had twin volvo's and Top end 30kts, cruise 24kts @ 17gph

The inlaws live in sanibel and I see a ton of those of 26 - 30ft express Pursuits with Yammi's down there, a few less now that they sell regulators on the island.

Just get a 42 yellowfin and call it good

Ha, right. Then I can really cunt up THT like a champ.

I am looking at ones with twin Yammis too, I just got hung up on the diesel for now.
Found one with a Cat in it.

The problem with the Yammis is that the used market has the old engines. The new 300 is what I would want.
Guess I could re-power and sell if needed. Lotta hassle though. I think you need to change gauges with those new 300's.

You want an express (heavy) but with outboards?
    Kinda stupid

Blackfin or Rampage or Black Watch express
    pair of cat diesels
    run it forever
    raise fish

an express with outboards is seriously the dumbest idea i've ever seen.

Do you want an express for the sleeping accomodations (most are actually fly bridges with plastic instead of fiberglass)? Or do you want an express because its probably the best goddamn setup on earth with the center console to fish big game with?

If you want something with outboards and a cuddy, you might as well go walkaround.

Since I know you kids wanted a done (for this summer) pic...

Done for this summer is looking good. You will never be done though. How'd you work around the bait well?

Express style with outboards is pretty weird. The whole idea is having all that ballroom to work with in back.
Seems that most of the boat mfg don't see it that way though. The OS line of Pursuit all has twin 300 Yammis or twin 350's on the big boys. They are 55 mph boats with under 3 ft draft with engines down, and under 2 ft with engines up.

My ideal would be twin Cats, Cummins or Yanmar 2nd. Problem is, this would be my FIL's boat too. He would not be very good with diesel inboards here. The avg depth of Tampa Bay is 5 ft. Lots of changing sandbars and sketchy areas to avoid. If we go that route, he will need a professional coach. I will not be able to teach him, and he will have it hung up within a month. That said, I am still leaning toward the diesels.

I've always assumed you were in a much higher tax bracket then I am. Maybe warthog is in the 15% tax bracket where $1200 = pocket change. That boat looks nice though.

I'm not broke but $1200 bucks is real money, man.

Warthog, two guys I know have these (theirs are like 3-4 years old, I guess they've changed them some but I'm not sure what's changed). Really nice boats, fast, comfy. But spendy as a motherfucker. One of the guys has two of them, one on the Chesapeake and one in FLA. I guess he doesn't worry about how much the fillups cost.

Yeah, BW will cost you on both ends. I don't like black motors. That boat would look sweet with twin 350's. Too bad Mercury doesn't make one.

$1200 fill ups give me heart palpitations. I put $130 in my Mako, and it lasts me 3 weeks.

This is potentially a joint venture with my FIL. He is most def. in the 15% bracket.
He has some ca$h burning a hole in his pocket, and he thinks he wants to do this thing.

Once I hit him with the reality of the whole thing, he might shitcan the whole idea, which is fine by me.

I love my Mako, but could see moving up to a 25 at some point. Or maybe a Pursuit 2550 or 2470 with a single 300 yammi on it. That would be perfect for me and the family.

If he gets involved, the money we have to spend triples, and he would likely take care of most expenses. I fear that he will get bored of it though, and then I will be looking again for a 25 with single engine.

I am moving cautiously, doing my research, that is all at this point.

I'm just around the corner from Horseneck Road these days in the low rent district.

Holy pogies outfront here (Sag... Paging Sag, boat is at North Atlantic finally getting the stupid engine issue sorted, stopping by tomorrow to harass the shit out of them)

    Brb need to sail.

lik, did you know we bought a house in Westport Point? Not sure I told you that. In the first phase of the long-term plan to move here full-time. June is busy at home but I should be here much of July-Aug-Sept.
