Also important to not ski down on top of your slow-ass partner in the bootpack! (Insert winky here. My winky won't work).
I would never assume that another party up top saw me and then knowingly boot pack up after unless it is spring time in New England - even then I avoid as much as possible. Choose another line.
Or get up earlier. The Passion is in the Risk

there is absolutely NO benefit in starting tours late. early means 1st tracks, early means more day light in case something goes wrong. early means getting it done early so you can have the rest of the day to go surf, drink beer, or both. my average winter george tours start around 7-730 and end by noon or 1pm. i'm usually done as folks are just heading up for sloppy seconds.
as far as spring freeze/thaw goes, i'd much rather start early and sit on the ridge for an hour or two, soaking in the scenery while the corn ripens than show up late to the party.
early=only way imo.
next week for lg turns lynch. i got sunday or tuesday.

2 points-
Yes, that was a douche move on their part IMO.
However........ Get up earlier, make plans that are less likely to get you into that situation, back out if you feel uncomfortable. Responsibility goes both ways.

heh, cept for the dawn patrollers trying to tick off the lines "discovered" by andrew in utah, the satch skiers started so late that i don't even know why they bother to tour in the 1st place. so common i saw folks starting up to get after it after myself and partners or the sun already had. too fucking funny.

If this is the first time this has happened to you then you're the jong.
Welcome to the new "backcountry" norm. Wait'll you see the arm these days on a cold bluebird big pow day.
As mentioned only solution is get up earlier or go where nobody be at.

Bobbyf, I remember I still owe you a tutorial.
A couple of ways to do it: use the "insert image" button located just above the text box window and either select an image off your computer or from a url when the window pops up, then just hit the upload button.
The other way is to get a third party hosting account at somewhere like photobucket (these are free) and upload your pictures to that site, then select the picture image code, and copy and paste the image text making sure it is wrapped with the IMG tags http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k1...P4062359-1.jpg like so:

And backcountry JONGS- yeah get up early usually avoids the shit show. That way you can get pissed off about people ascending the down slope run.Move upside and let the man go through...

i would be moving the fuck out of the way if either of those two hippies skied by me! how the hell do either one of those two knuckleheads find the chair much less their way down?
they look extremly unprepared, almost clueless, stay clear of this type in the BC, they are very unpredictable but fun da mentally solid.
thanks for the reminder mofro of a earlier time
enjoy pilchuck tomorrow, weather looks perfect and jt has a great route.

No one has asked the other question: could you have picked an uptrack that did not expose you to attractive-skiing-areas-which-are-also-avy-paths? Also, I skin too, but all you bootpack haters need to relax, man up, and learn to love breaking trail. Bootpackers have it way harder and you'll be way happier if you accept that in bootpackable distances, if the skintrack goes in first, the bootpack will go over it and you get to make a new one. Is it such a big deal as to get on a hate train?
