More choice is always more preferable than less choice for me.
Is it possible (perhaps it's already there) to have tags for TRs as there are in blogs to make finding TRs from a similar geographical area or activity easier?

I really like the idea, as well as the ability to direct photos and text to multiple TRs straight from my phone. Will it work forr Android?

I like the idea. Just make sure as I go there it asks me if I'm 18 each and every fucking time.

I think we all agree that at the very least there should be a separate TR forum from ski / snowboard so the trips don't get buried by all of the other stuff. Why not do this now and then integrate the app into it?

I think it's a great idea to have a mobile app. Make it easier to post TR could be the best way to encourage more of them on the site. IMHO putting them in a separate forum is a mistake. I'd much rather see the main forum full of stoke filled mobile TR's than the majority of the current threads. Better to have the main forum clogged with people out enjoying the sport than clogged with complaints about what someone else did. I'd rather have 18 out of the 20 top threads mobile TR's than 2 TR's and 20 posts whining about someone else's etiquette. Just have the app tag the TR's as mobile for those so anal they need hi res pictures and perfect grammar so they can just avoid them. Sometimes the best TR inspirations come while your outdoors as opposed to later on in front of PC.

sounds cool....I love a good TR, but as others have said I can't (or don't want) to carry a camera around on a pow day.
Maybe we will see some more cool photos.
it should be a no bullshit area though. I would hate to have to sift 2 forums for snow pictures.whatever I feel like i what to do!

This wouldn't be something I'd use, as I like to do the real TR thing, even if I only rarely do things interesting enough to justify it... Any idea that boosts the amount of stoke that gets posted is a winner. Make it a separate sub-forum or have some sort of filter to turn on/off mobile TRs on the s/s forum.
I'd agree with the comments about moving the local conditions threads to their own sub-forum as well. I'm on the Whistler thread a lot, but except for occasionally checking the PNW and interior BC local conditions, I rarely check the other local threads and they're some of the most active threads on the board.

Hard to fathom people complaining that there will be too many TRs.
Especially after all the whining about the lack of TRs and too much other crap lately.
Really?
So what if a bunch of "amateur" TRs get posted?
py cell phone pics and third grade grammar are still more entertaining than a good chunk of what passes for threads around here lately.
If someone posts a "crappy" TR it'll get some views but few replies. The lack of attention will cause the OP to either up their game, give up, or continue to post "crappy" TRs that no one looks at. So what?
Implying that there ought to be standards for TRs is silly. Some people know how to make a good presentation and then actually take the time to do so. Some people know how but don't bother, and some just don't have a clue. The important thing is that people are out skiing and posting about it. Even the crappy cell phone camera don't have a clue how to write or spell folks will still post up something entertaining from time to time. It's not like this is fine art or something.
As to whether this "app" should be implemented, I say go for it! TGR420 or whoever creates the app will be the only ones who really have to worry about the time spent creating it. Do a good job and it'll get used and be a good thing for the site. Screw it up and no one will use it or care. From where I sit, I don't see the downside to implementing this....Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain...

This is MONEY!
Make sure you include code to enable the gps & track the users' location and poach their stashes.
Edit to add non thrunt content... Personally I like the idea but I can't disagree with the concerns about diluting the quality of TR's. Seeing real time action sounds cool but without time to edit the product will inevitably be less polished. Seperate forum seems like a good idea.Last edited by flatNshallow; 05-31-2012 at 05:46 AM.
