The Guinness QR cup
I love innovative marketing and design. So I really got a kick out of this.

I don't really want to use it for the QR code, I want to use it to drink beer. I just think it is a novel idea and would personally like to have one of those glasses for my collection.

guinness realized many years ago that they needed to broaden their market beyond people who can actually appreciate good stout with a history. so they started marketing to idiot frat boys. this is just another step along that path.

has anyone here ever actually scanned a QR code?
If you did, was it just to see if you could and you never did it again?

Wow they are serious? How fucking obsessed with social media do you have to be to even contemplate this?

Any pub is good pub--even a thread on lowly TGR.

I think it's kinda cool, personally. I mean it can't cost them a cent more than regular logo pint glasses and if it helps them sell some beer, good for them. That's marketing in action.
I'm in the tried-the-QR-thing-once crowd but I hardly drink beer anyways, I'm not their market.
Hell I thought the "QR Cup" was some sports tournament they were sponsoring until I clicked into the thread.

Sad but true.
Watch a 20-something couple on a date these days.... they spend more time on their phones than they do talking to each other. My wife and I were out a couple weeks ago at a nice restaurant, sitting near another couple on a date. I swear they didn't say more than 10 words to each other, but they were typing shit on their phones non-stop. It's fucking pathetic.

This is gimmicks for the industry folks, this is not actual marketing.

How did an ad like that get finalized with a typo in the headline?

social media experience? Yeah, I want to scan a code and read/"experience" more stupid ads to get me to buy more shit, or drink more beers that I have already decided on drinking, nope, this is a gimmick for industry people.
