When I lived on Long Island (another lifetime) we fished Blues a lot. I now am a fly fisherman for dinky little trout here in Montana.
That being said I would love to cast at a school of Bluefish on top with a 10 weight flyrod and a wire tippet and a big streamer.
Tying into a Bluefish on a flyrod would be a hoot!

So I almost pulled an S.S. Minnow today... been jonesing to take the boat out, but the slip is kinda dicey, lots of current, narrow, so I waited until I had somebody to go with to help with docking. Now when the boat was delivered and the dealer and I went out for a cruise, he told me they bought me a full tank of gas as a delivery gift. I never even glanced at the gas on my initial one-hour cruise with him, he was telling me a hundred other things about the boat at the time.
Today, me and my brother go out, we're just checkin' shit out, cruising out of the harbor. We get out towards the bell, I put the hammer down, play with the trim a little, fuck with the GPS some (still learning it), glance at the guages, and NO FUCKING GAS!
Stupid newbie move I know, have a checklist, yada yada, but I was SURE I had a tank of gas. And I sure as fuck didn't. Came down off the plane, let it idle and at least the needle moved a little on the swell, not much. But it would go all the way up to "E", which was an improvement over pinned at the bottom. Needless to say, we turned around and limped home.
I wonder if they never put the gas in or if it was siphoned? I guess I'll never know.

There should be an anti-siphon valve. But I am sure a thief would know a way around that.
Your sender is usually at the front of the tank, pickup in the rear. If you are not idle, the gas gauge is usually off a bit.
You'll learn how much you have. My gauge constantly flashes empty while under way. When I go to idle, I have 1/4 tank left. Just learn to look at it before you leave the dock, and fuel up accordingly. Those 4 strokes are really good on oil, but make sure you have some on the boat too. I can't remember if you have an oil reservoir with those engines or not.

Don't get me wrong Bunion, so would I....in fact I might, in the near-future, be closer to that scenario I've imagined...although I'll probably opt for stripers if work ever ends up near NYC. Toughest decision 4me is not the flyrod-weight change(No.central Maine to NYC), but no woods, wildlife + 4wd....
(but I guess some people drive back for the weekends...).

Shinamo Saragosa 6000 on Shimano Teremar X-70MH (2 of these, casting poppers/pencils/small swimmers/etc)
Shimano Calcutta 400 TE on Shimano Teremar...whatever is the 1-4oz version (2 of these, jigging shit, bigger stuff to toss, swimming live eels)
Couple boat rods with Penn 114H's or Shimano Torium 20's for trolling/live lining/chunking.
A pile of lures/jigs/hooks/leader material/some other shit I can't remember right now from CMS/Saltwater Edge.

Nice I'll print that out and take it with me. Do you prefer one of those stores over the other?

There's a lake a days hike out of Many Glacier in GNP. Lake Elizabeth.
Just shy of the Canadian border.
Last time I fished it, the fly never even hit the water before the 3 and 4 lb trout took it out of the air.
Go there if you want the fly trip of a lifetime.

bass pro for rods/reels
spooling/everything else from local shops.
SWE is better for inshore stuff, CMS is more of an offshore shop (lots of heavy big game gear, some deals to be had on inshore stuff now and then)
If you're gonna shop in July when you come back up lemme know when you're headed to SWE. Good lunch to be had around there (Candy Store @ Cooke House or Melville Grill in Portsmouth at New England Boatworks)вы все все равно скоро сдохнете

I was always a fan of Penn reels, 3-0 and 4-0 Senators (113+ 114 are the real numbers), Spinfisher spinning reels, and Internationals. My father sold my International II reels and stand up rods (30 and 50 class) after I gave them to him (He thought he was doing me a favor selling them for me), My Brother borrowed my Senators, But I still have my Spinfishers. I always made my own rods, exept for the International rods, they were very well made and I couldn't build one for what I paid for them.
