    The bands you saw just most likely sucked.

    I've never taken note of bass problems there, but it's been a while. It may not be the best sounding venue ever, but the intimacy you get there is pretty tough to beat, at least in this town.

    Some of my best recollections of that place....
    Billy Joel touring on the 'New York State of Mind' album c. 1975?
    Crowded House with Roger McGuinn opening and joining them.
    Bruce Cockburn several times
    Bruce Hornsby a couple
    Fishbone
    Metheney
    Mother Love Bone
    Jules Shear
    Kingston Trio ('cuz my buddy;'s the bass player.... ;0)

    ....and more that have disappeared into the recesses of my addled mind.

    I'd love to see Joe Jackson there, but those tickets are tres cher.
