Cell service on top of peaks in the winds?
This is a random question but does anyone know if there is cell service from the top of peaks near the Pinedale side of the Winds? I may need to send an email or two while there and was wondering if this will be possible. Att is my carrier.

I can't believe you are a rando racer because I look so much better in Lycra than you.

I think you have a good chance of getting signal. I think ATT uses Union towers in Wyoming, which generally has pretty good coverage, especially in the Pinedale area. FWIW, I have verizon and attempted to call and text from Bonney (Dinwoody) Pass on the way to Gannett Peak and though my phone showed signal, I could not get out. I did get perfectly fine signal from Photographer's Point which is five or so miles from the Elkhart Park trailehead.

could always give JH mtn guides a call. They spend a lot of time guiding there and probably know it pretty well. I do know they purchased a sat phone for those trips, but obviously may not be on a peak when it could be needed...
The blues has always been about taking your problems and turning them into something you can dance to, drink to and fuck to.
We're certainly not a blues band in any kind of purest sense, but to me Rock and Roll has always had it's roots in that tradition.

Quick answer from JHMGs. It looks like the answer is don't count on service even with line of sight. They said texts might go out.

With att I have had consistent service on Bonney pass, but I had to tuck over onto the Helen side of the pass. Spotty on top of Gannett, actually.
