New stunt on favorite trail
I set up a new elevated log ride this Saturday on a large fallen tree. It's about 35-40 feet long and ends up with a 3.75 to 4.75 foot drop at the end, depending how far out the rider lands the drop.
It took about 2 hours of sawing off limbs and stacking a rock side-ramp entry. This tree couldn't have fallen over in a better spot.
I went back yesterday to play on it and film.
I named it after my cheap-ass beer!
I gladly introduce the Beer:30 Log.

Nice new feature! I'm a fan of repurposing deadfall too. Turned a downed aspen tree in to a nice jump that flows with the trail.

Knumbskull And where might this be so I may "test" it?!

Any thoughts on putting a flat top on it?

Check out a log wizard. That should do the trick. I saw one of our techs testing one out today. Looks pretty sweet.

There's no need to flat top it right now. It's wide enough & grippy enough. If it gets too slick when the bark starts coming off of the top, I'll sneak in with a chainsaw if necessary. It should hold up for several years as is, I think. The trail is 7 miles of shuttle-able knar downhill (10,000 ft down to 7200 ft) in the mountains of Santa Fe. One of the sweetest, knarliest, longest shuttle runs around. A true freerider's delight.
I was pretty happy to get this stunt in down low, where the trail gets calmer and less feature-intensive.
