RC and GHW laps all the way

I'll be skiing Beartooth June 6th-9th. I'll be looking to hook up with a crew to ski laps with, and share shuttle driving with.
I've never been there before, but a few years back, I had the low down delivered, with pics, from guys I ride with often. Though I've been hungry to ski it since, circumstances have prevented me from getting there sooner, but are favorable this spring.

Thinking of heading up solo today. MT DOT sites are somewhat confusing. Will the road be open tomorrow? Also looking for mags for car shuttle, etc.

It's very easy. I always pick up random skiers on my up to the pass, people usually do the same for me. Usually pretty easy to hitch a ride back up for laps off the headwall. The forecast is looking beautiful! I'm just hoping that doesn't delay the road opening.

Dang. Just saw Red Lodge mountain resort's webcam and looks like there's pretty much nothing left. Last year they had a huge base at this time. Saw a mtdot youtube clip of the 3rd switchback. Kind of making me nervous about whether or not RC Headwall's filled in. Don't let that deter you, though. There should plenty by the ski camp area.
Just found this clip showing what the highway was like last year, mid-June.

Everybody burn some skis or whatever you have to do to get the goods delivered. Although the lower altitudes may be a bit sparse right now, it's shaping up to be a good weekend. Worst comes to worst, it's always a good time at the Snow Creek Saloon in Red Lodge. Predictions are calling for 2" tonight IN TOWN. Now they're saying 7" on Friday, with more to come on Saturday. Hopefully will be measured in feet at the pass.
Good times will be had by all. See you all out there on Saturday!

If it's snowing in town or at the ski hill, it's gonna be great at the pass.

Thanks Austin, I've been there and skied the Pass. What I want to know is current, up to the day conditions, first person, at the area so as jump in the Subi road machine and make a turn or maybe two.

If they get the snowfall that is predicted, it is highly unlikely the road will open.

Check the webcams! Getting stoked! I'm pretty sure they had the pass mostly cleared, they were just finishing working on rocks and stuff down below. Shouldn't be too difficult for them to keep the highway plowed and open on schedule. Judging by this video the clearing crew posted yesterday, we may be alllllllright. Memorial Day pow? Yes, please!
Stay tuned to this link. http://www.mdt.mt.gov/travinfo/scrip...etailed&box=No It will keep you updated with the status of the highway. Also, these guys would be the ones to contact to see if they'll be operating the pomas: http://rlissc.com/contactus.html

Just learned that you can call (307) 344-2117 for road conditions around Yellowstone. The recording said that the Beartooth Highway is currently closed due to adverse weather conditions (as we already assumed for today), and to call again for updates. Man, I hope it's open tomorrow. Not sure how stable the snow will be on the RC headwall, as it's fairly steep and I'm a total avy jong, so I might just stick around the ski camp and save the headwall for another day.

MT DOT concurs. It would be nice to know if they make the decision about opening tomorrow sometime early today as I have an 8 hr drive ahead to get there. If anyone gets word I'd be indebted for a PM.
