My husband is driving to Shasta from SLC on Sunday, but then heading to Oregon afterward. He's picking up his (our?) sweet 80's diesel sportsmobile that just got 4 wheel put on it! But that's another topic entirely

Anyone keeping the stoke alive out there on Shasta?

Here are some recently posted photos and words from a mid-June Shasta trip:

May and June were a lot of fun. Already got my July ski - but haven't been there since the 4th.
Then life got in the way.

August is just around the corner. It's still good.
I'll hit that shit one more time.
maybe more ...I always say I'll go up one more time and then end up making the drive several more times.
September can be a season ender some years.
Here's hoping to keep the TAY going!

Any recommendations for front country tent camp sites that aren't overwhelmed by RVs? Not going to ski, just hike and maybe bike.

    Dammit!
I'm tapping out for the season. Spent two months rent on the Jeep in brakes and tires.
If next season is going to happen at all, I gotta hunker down and stick close to base camp.
Mt. biking, kayaking and rock climbing will keep me busy 'till the snow flies next season.
The skiing is still good up there. Don't lose hope. I wanna hear of some TR's!

I'm heading up in 12 days, but sans skis for a glacier mtneering class. I'll be going nuts without a ski or back on my board as we walk down the thing!

I will be sure to take lots of pictures though!

Hey jib, you or anyone else want to claim HW turns on Sunday? Saw someone with LaSportiva trail shoes hike up and make turns above and below the Wintun.

My sorry ass glissaded the PERFECT corn from the upper shoulder down to the rock field, and almost got taken out by a microwave-oven-sized boulder tumbling down our glissade track at 25mph. Thing was fucking scary, as was the lightning storm on Friday night that was hitting in under 2-second flash-to-bangs up near the South Gate parking area.

Despite the lack of turns ... I did get to hang by a rope in a crevasse on the Hotlum and jug my way out ... good times!
