This is tough news. I remember when I was in college I had tickets to the Rhyme and Reason tour with the Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine. The show was canceled when one of the Beastie Boys broke his collar bone in a bike accident. Looking back I wish that show wasn't cancelled.

I grew up the Beasties. This sucks.

Definitely sucks. Had a blast seeing them in 87 with Public Enemy and Murphy's Law. One of the few bands I still listen to a regular basis after 25+ years. One of my college friends knew them from the NYC hardcore scene and hipped me to them. Then "Cookie Puss" and "She's on It" came out and I was hooked. I think this evening calls for a couple of beers and a loud playing of Paul's Boutique.

Grew up with the Beasties. Paul's, Check your Head, and Ill Communication were the soundtracks to my HS and College days. So many memoreis...

MCA was always my fave...that gruff voice, intelligent lyrics.

I normally don't get bummed out when muscians, celebrities, etc. pass away...but I'm feeling this one. Will be listening to MCA and the Beasties all weekend.

I saw them at the Centrum when Ill Communication came out. The Hurra (their old DJ) played a solo set and The Roots, who were new to me opened as well. hellofa show.

one of the best shows I have ever seen was the beasties at pacific col about 10 years ago.
first act, mc's with mix master, killing it on stage.
    intermission
second act, played on a wheeled carnival barge. a 1 hour live set, lots of in sounds, ill communication: sabrosa, eugenes, sabotage. blew me away.

man am I ever glad I was fortunate enough to see that show.

    HipHop in Peace MCA!

Fucking sucks. Saw them a bunch and fortunately caught them at Red Rocks few years back for one of their best performances.

Solid Beastie Boys mix from a buddy of mine. 77 minutes of pure bliss...

RIP dude, Nathaniel Hornblower for life
You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?

    Fond, fond memories indeed.

    I just called a Co-worker "the egg-man" yesterday.

I have fond memories of blasting some pussy in HS while covering the noise with Ill Communication.

Add in Hello Nasty and I'm in the same boat.

I really just usually shrug my shoulders when I hear of these things but I pulled the car over and was like woh this AM when I heard.

great mix... wish I still had what I put together when I was spinning. I had after hours mixes, party mixes, and a few remixes I had done of Beasties.

Powerful cultural icon. I blared Beasties all afternoon while driving for work and received a shitload of shoutouts from other drivers at lights. Made me happy. Hope it made MCA happy too. Thanks Adam.

Funny thing about that album, so many Beastie fans say it's their favorite Beastie album... yet, at one time it was one of their lowest in sales. I'm sure that's changed now, especially with Hot Sauce pt I and II...
