Thread: Long AT bindings for a Yeti

I want to get into touring but can't find a binding that will fit my 381 BSL length. I have been looking around and think the only option may be to buy some Alltimes and use the hardware to make my own "custom" set.

Other than that, if you can find a dynafit boot that'll fit you, you could go that route. You could also try something along the lines of the Green Mtn. Freeride contraption where you use a dynafit toe for the ups and then a regular alpine binding for descents. Then you could just modify your boot for dynafit compatibility.

I think Blurred also had a thread where he modified his boots to accept sole blocks that had dynafit fittings. You might be able to pull something like that off and then just use a regular dynafit setup.

Size 17 shoe, 34 mondo, no dynafit boots available in that size. I would feel more comfortable not having to modify a boot to that extent but may be the best route

Haha wont work BD's toe loops arent big enough.

If you have size 17 shoe, you're a big dude. I would be surprised to see a silveretta or naxo hold up to the stress you may put on that shit.

I would also worry about Silvretta or Naxo holding up especially if they were made longer. Currently riding 186 and 191 skis but will have to upgrade if I find a way to go AT. I don't want to modify a boot for dynafit either. The Green Mountainrig looks ideal with minimal boot mods but $$$$

hate to be the one to break it to ya but putting a circus bear on skis is going to be expensive. go get yourself some 196's from Splat, tap some new holes into an mfd plate and put your alpine binders on em. hopefully you have a pair of bindings that will work for one of their plates. people will be offloading them for fairly cheap soon. i got a pair for $191. i'd contact mfd to make sure they don't think it'll be too much stress by moving the holes (don't see why it would).

Have you looked at the MFD? There's nowhere to tap anymore holes. They are not solid plates. All the material other than where the existing holes are is cut out.

I'd say you've got three options:

1. Tech fittings - are you sure that none of the boot manufacturers make any boots with tech fittings in your size? What brand of alpine boots do you have?

2. Fabricating longer rails for Freeride/Naxo/etc. Possibly the new Salomon/Atomic binders too.

3. The Green Mountain setup.

Thought it was solid from the last holes to the back of the plate. My bad.

I haven't been able to find a boot with tech fittings but that doesn't mean there isn't one. All I have ever been able to find for boots are Head (Edge +11 this season and an Adaptedge LTD for next year).

i suppose one other thing. have you been to a good boot fitter? they usually cram you into a small boot than you'd wear yourself. i'm a size 13 shoe and wear a 28 mondo boot. did you do a shell fit?

Alpine Trekkers? Do Trekkers go that long? If not, you might be able to fabricate a Trekker-like thing, or extend the rails on an existing pair. At least then you wouldn't have an extremely long rail binding for the down, which seems like it might be overly flexible.

Telemarkers don't have the binding size problem, but I suspect there are not any telemark boots that big anyway.
