(Mostly a) Photo TR: Sophomore year
Theres alot of pictures in here. Fair warning for folks with slower internet hookups.
In my lifetime there have been a number of people that have greatly influenced me and are responsible for where I am at today. Unfortunatly, two of them were taken this winter, My mom and Randosteve. This TR is dedicated to them.
Id also like to thank my 2 main ski partners, Simb and non-mag Adam for the stoke, motivation, trailbreaking, and friendship.

Honorable mention goes to Adimmen for getting me back on track after Romeo's accident (Adimmen's face describes his attitude perfectly, Stoked!)

Jackson got off to a slow start this year like most other places and I spent November getting to know the summer trails and enjoying the local wildlife.

December rolled around and Pales and Llyon came into town before headed to (What looked like) a killer winter in Japan. I also met Simb and we poked around to see what we could find. We were plesantly suprised.

After a couple days together, Pales and Llyon headed out and left Simb and I to fend for ourselves in the thin snowpack. We were again pleasantly suprised with what we could find.

We brought my buddy Justus out for his first tour in GTNP up the East Hourglass Couloir. He wins (by a longshot) best ski carry of the year with "the X-wing".

Spankthepow had invited me and Simb to a trip to the Eiseman Hut in early January. The snow was even thinner than it was in Jackson and we didnt do much skiing but the views were great.

After a weekend trip to ski this thing

Simb and I returned to Jackson with a somewhat better snowpack the higher you went due to a pretty consistant inversion. I decided that even though it might not be totally "in" it was time for Simb to stand on top of his first Teton.

Simb and I on the Summit

STP and his Missus came to Jackson (again) shortly after and dispite the low tide, we decided to poke around. We brought the 70m line just in case. We ended up needing almost every bit of it.

Then it happened. We got the storm that saved our season. The resort picked up 80" in a week or so and we finally had a base.

Photo:Simb
Did I mention it was wet?

Once the storm settled and the skys cleared the mountains gave us a quick reminder that although we now had a base we also had a deep slab problem

Simb and I decided to take it easy and get out of the Tetons where the deep slab would (hopefully) be less deep and more predictable. We found outselves lapping this all alone on a saturday while slednecks ripped around below us.

After awhile of tip-toeing around the pass and finding improving stability we decided to go back into the park and poke around.

Photo: Adam
Happy with what we found we decided to go a little steeper.

We got a couple nickel and dime storms and Spankthepow and Miss Spank came back to town again. Already knowing where the goods were, we headed back.

Photo: Simb
We got another bigish storm shortly after STP and Miss spank left and when it cleared up, we decided to take a long ridge walk from Teton Pass to Teton Village and take in the views with Adam and EPskisforlife.

The next morning I recieved news that Steve had not come back from a tour up north. I was pretty shaken up and combined with Simb getting ready to leave for AK and Adam making a trip to Boulder for an interview I didnt ski much to following week.
After an interesting drive to SLC to drop Simb off at the airport (that included fixing a bent rim on the side of the road with an ice tool hammer
) I headed to Seattle to pick up Adimmen for a 10day trip to the BC coast. It turned out to be one of the best trips of my life thanks mostly to Adimmen's constant stoke and freakish trailbreaking abilities.

I returned from BC more fired up than ever and after a solo ski of the South followed by "The day of way to many Glory laps" Adam and I headed up the Middle

We took a couple days off with the spring like weather and went climbing

Then headed up the Grand for my birthday

We climbed up

And stood on some new (for us) summits

Did some skiing

And got all redneck with a BB gun

The WROD we had skinned in on had melted out a bit so on our way out we ended up walking for a bit. As we neared the cars the girls celebrated with a high five

Thanks for reading!

so what your saying is that you are done with early season plattekill runs?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the progression of you just kicking ass out there since you left the EC, and documenting in some great shots. I am taking you up on it next season dude, this looks like too much fun to pass up again.

Very nice but that's not news. Looking at the BC pics again brought a smile to my face. I'm glad the trip reignited your spark. I was happy to hear that you put in multiple 10K days after returning to Jackson.
I can't believe you are a rando racer because I look so much better in Lycra than you.
