    Fischer 223DH boards

    I always wanted a set of DH boards so I scored a pair of 223 Fischer RC4's with the big holes in the tips, marker M46 bindings in really good condition

    besides the s/n there is a figure stamped in the sidewalls which looks like 71 anybody know anything about these skis ?

    Current Fischer race skis have the flex stamped on the sidewall that most people assume is part of the serial number (right next to it). These days WC skiers are on a 40-50 flex SL ski, 45-55 flex GS ski, and it's a little vague on the SG/DH side. My SG's are 60.

    I'm guessing your skis are "71" flex, but they are also older then I am...

    EDIT: my skis loose the stamp after a good 5 days of use.... so those skis sound like they are pretty fresh! enjoy!!

    yeah it could be 71 and that stamp is a larger/different style of stamp than the S/N numbering and its deeply stamped on the opposite sidewall to the ski S/N, not sure how old these are but theyulook pretty cherry, profile is 87-71-79

    The Smithers ski club has been putting on the Shuss boomer since 84 and the race shows no sign of going away anytime soon so I decided to get more competitive with some DH boards

    The 1st year I did the race I used my BC setup, this time Rick "The Mole" lent me a pair of old 210 rossi GS skis, the coach lent me a skin suit and I did 90kph

    top speed was 114, garyfromterrace did a very respectable 108 then sat in with the band and partied all night like a rock star ... most impressive

    a lot of these guys grew up racing whereas I'm a powderhound, but now I got the 223's ...wait till next year

    Sounds like the Ski Cooper downhill which is also a blast. Point them straight, hold your tuck and don't catch an edge.

    My local hill used to have a speed event. My buddy had the same Fishers as you (very nice score by the way). My best was 119 kph on my Rossi 223's. Cera-F was way expensive but way worth it. Always wanted to hit 100mph, still do.... Good luck, those are some of the coolest skis made.

    The Shussboomer is a closed blue run with some turns, we got some of the safety "B" netting from the 2010 olympics but the scariest part is having to look at the old guys in skin suits

    garyfromterrace runs the "Kermode Tuck" at shames which I understand is just a straight speed event ... no pesky turning

    yeah they were sitting in my buddies basement 3 houses away, I asked him how much and he said "we will trade for something" and we shook hands

    You should check out the Velocity Challenge at Sun Peaks. That's a scary race.

    Straight down Headwall, with two rollers and a nasty compression at the bottom to survive. And if you don't explode during that, there's a right turn in the finish area.

    anybody know how the marker M46 binding comes apart ?

    ^^^I'm assuming that you mean remove from skis. Pop up AFD and remove the 2 screws underneath, then push toe toward the tip and remove, you can then access the middle front toe screw. For the heels, turn forward pressure screw until you see the front screws snow up in the slots to access them, can't fully remember if you have to slide the heel forward(after removing front screws) to access rear screws on the bracket or if they are on the outside of heel bracket and easily accessible(like M48)

    yup thats exactly what I needed and kinda what I figured, I popped that AFD off and I can see the front screws, the rear screws are hidden so it does look like I need to slide the heel piece forward after removing the front screws

    I will need to move the toe pieces rearward an inch to get boot center on the line, better to ask than fuck up eh

    these skis got used once a year for 2 runs ... bindings should be fine

    OK, it's been a long time. The M46 slides in a heel track and the m48 slides in a bracket.

    All Marker jokes aside, I would not remount them on those skis. If they were going to be your LBD skis I would think you would be fine, but at the speeds your talking about don't do it. The problem with these era of Markers is the TwinCam feature(put the boot in the binding and twist outward at toe and you will see how this works). When you start hitting variable terrain(not snow) and the ski takes on alot of vibration the twin cam has a tendency to release(both cams release tension), meaning that you boot toe will come out of binding interface(I think the M48 with its upward release feature might have even been worse) and at 90+ I don't have to tell you that that is a bad thing. It could be that you might never have a problem, but I wouldn't chance it. Put some Salomons on 'em

    come to think of it I got some 977exp's in really good shape that could use a home
