P11, how much do you weigh and how tall are you?

Here is the expanded article. Great to see this will be available, but why the need for the entire green plastic thing? Why not merely offer a different Al alloy plate to screw or rivet on the stock green thing? That DIY solution worked for me, Lou and at least one other guy.

Whatchu talkn bout Willis? Hmmm . . . ?
Does the RS tour as well as the regular Maelstrale? Have you had the RS in warmer temps? That is my only complaint about my Maelstrale's - they turn to mush when super warm. Curious if the RS secret plastic is better in warmer temps?

I was wondering that myself. Seems like they could just make two other plates that reduce the fwd lean by 2 and 4 degrees (or whatever). Doesn't make sense to replace the whole thing, unless there's something I'm missing.
Guess I'll need to get working on building up my garage machine shop. Spend $1000 to save $50, right?

The RS tours as well as the regular Maestrale. When it got warm I'd have to crank the Maestrale buckles to keep it feeling tight. With the RS I don't crank the buckles and don't even have to crank the powerstrap unless I want super-duper pow11 powers. It's a lot stiffer.
Can't wait for Marshal's piece

Thank you. Exactly what I was hoping to hear. Why so ugly though? I know they are Scarpa but really? The designer should be shot.
Just need to find someone who hasn't read this thread and willing to buy them (size 29 and minty condition - anyone interested?). Do love the flex, lateral stifness of the the Scarpa. Right out of the box and no adjustments necessary. Ski great too. RS should be perfect. Thank you.The Passion is in the Risk

Any word on the forward lean difference between the Vulcan and TLT5P? I know TLT5 is 15, but can't find the figure for the Vulcan.
I got TLT5Ps this spring. My first drop in with them (in spring pow w/ the stock liners - unmolded) was horrifying. I then put in powerwrap liners and a spoiler in the front of the liner. The new liner felt much more substantial but even with the front spoiler the forward lean felt like it was way too much. On my next ski descent, I slid the front spoiler down a couple inches on the liner and that actually really dialed in the forward lean - I could finally ski these boots without fear.
All that being said, I want a more burly boot. The vulcan looks great, and I would love to have a slightly more burly boot with a legit walk mode. Any comment on the forward lean from anyone who has skied the vulcan, and preferably the TLT5 as well? I would love to hear the input...

I was in MEC today and tried on the Vulcan, Mercury and Maestrale RS. My current boots are Titans in size 25. Some observations:
-Lateral and aft support felt similar between all 3 boots, better than my Titans. Though this is probably something better assessed on the mountain.
- Forward flex felt similar for Mercury and RS. Vulcan was stiffer.
- The RS had a more anatomical fit for me. I didn't need to go down to a toe crunching size for good hold. The Dynafits were too narrow in the heel and too wide in the forefoot.
- Walk mode on the RS had more range of motion vs. Dynafits with the tongue in. I did not try removing the tongues.
- The tongue on the RS is a pain in the ass, getting tangled with buckles when getting into the boots. The Dynafit tongue is more annonying than a normal overlap boot but less annoying than the RS.
- None of the boots had play in the walk mechanism like my Titans.
Basically the choice should come down to what fits your foot. For me it would be the RS in a 25.5/26.0. All 3 boots are sweet.
