Photo TR: A Winter of Touring in Washington

With the change of weather and me starting grad school, I think I can say winter has ended for me. Looking back I had almost seven months of touring in new snow with new and old friends. Here is a quick look back at my 2011-12 winter. Thanks to all my ski partners. Thankfully we still have lots of snow up here in the PNW, so here's to a good spring and summer of touring.

This season, as with most ski trips, started in a parking lot, with gear on the ground, drinking a beer, waiting for weather to clear

Followed of course by copious amounts of skinning

    Sometimes early season conditions existed

Other times the skin track was deep

We would skin in stormy weather

But then the weather would start to clear...

And the views, like always, were spectacular

Some Mornings we would start early...

But as the soon as the sun started to come up...

    It was all worth it...

Once at the top we could celebrate

And enjoy the fruits of our labor

    Eye future goals...

There is always those few moments where you are taking everything in before you drop in...

But we came up here for a reason...

    Early season corn?

    early season pow

    skiing couloirs

    skiing new areas

Hope everyone had a good season...always happy to ski with new and old friends. If you see me out there say hi. I usually have an extra beer in my pack

Awesome shots, but you may want to consider taking this thread down before people start thinking that maybe it doesn't rain all winter up there.

    Excellent post season stoke Kevin.
Don't count out the Spring season just yet.
They way the weather has been coming in of recent (today excepted) things look like they are shaping up pretty good.
Stay in touch for some late light afternoon evening missions.

    So long, Kevin

Well, Kev. It's been great getting out with you.

As you know, I've had the same cell # since 7th grade. So, 10 years from now, when you can get out again and all your "adult responsibilities" are finished with, call me and we'll get out again, b/c I'll probably still be skiing the gfp til I'm old & grey, and I'll probably still have the same phone number : )

Just kidding, but I know you'll kill it at grad school. It's been fun!

btw, I know you felt compelled to include all the "cool" photos full of "stoke" and "good snow" in your rewind, but this one is still my favorite...
