OK. Was trying to leave you an out, but we'll have to settle for the original 'too dumb to figure out the obvious' explanation. So for your benefit I'll confirm once more that I 150% agree with everything every member of the Democratic Party has ever done, even when those things are completely contradictory. The Democrats are to me what idiocy is to you--a dogma and religion.
I look forward to your next post demonstrating your unique reading comprehension skills.
[//quote]

Well, Dex, admitting you're wrong is the first step to a recovery. Keep along the path and you might find some inner peace even if its at the the expense of your beloved Democrats....
Thanks for pointing out my idiocy, I really cherish your comments and will give it the contemplation it's due..........all done.

Dude. Unlike the modern Republican Party it's very obvious that not every Democrat conforms to the Party playbook.
Is there a GOP equivalent to the Blue Dog Democrats? There used to be a moderate faction of the Republican Party - pre-2008 McCain, Dick Lugar, John Warner, even Orrin Hatch... etc. What happened to them? Why are they either so busy trying to prove their Ultra-Conservatism or being marginalized?
I would love to have the GOP of 20 years ago. Shit - it was easy to look at the larger lunatic fringe in Congress and see that just as many were ultra-leftist Democrats as Bible-thumping Conservatives.

Ha, he'd implement his crazy agenda by executive order fiat, huh?
If he ever became president (which is less likely than all of us living on Newt's moon colonies) he'd be the least effective president for at least the past 100 years. Starry eyed visions of leading through executive order aside...
[//quote]

Ron Paul is exactly what this country needs. He will not get elected though. He is the only one talking about the real issues. My views are well documented on the earlier RP thread so I will not engage in all of the personal attacks from both sides. This country is sliding towards disaster fast. Only when it is too late will people realize it. War in the middle east, war on drugs, the patriot act, 15 trillion dollar deficit. Neither Romney or Obama are going to make any real change. He is not perfect but is far closer to representing my views as any candidate out there.

05-12-2012, 08:47 PM #91The Romney campaign's aggressive reaction to Paul's recent success suggests the Texas Congressman is doing better than most in the media had initially realized. Republican delegates will meet August 27 in Tampa, Florida to choose a nominee. If Romney's campaign cannot recover, it risks losing the Republican nomination.

There's still the issue of superdelegates. Baring a meltdown of some sort, it's hard to picture a scenario where the superdelegates would vote against Romney even if Romney failed to achieve the necessary total. The whole thing is sort of set up (rigged?) to prevent anarchic conventions likes the ones in the past.

Gop does not have super delegates. Dnc does. Gop has unpledged delegates from each state. Something like 400 total and 1/4 are gop officials.
Hard to say what the breakdown of support will be from the 3/4 that are not gop officials.

Maybe maybe not obviously an uphill battle at best.

The process is fairly byzantine so who knows but news reports (masterofgreenbeans's link corroborates) say there are 120 RNC superdelegates who can support any candidate for president they choose at the national convention in August, regardless of what happens in primaries or caucuses.

Seems I was mistaken. According to wiki superdelegates is an informal term originally applied only to the dnc that has recently been used to describe unbound delegates in the rnc as well. Also, the 400 figure may be wrong for this convention. If there are only 126 "superdelegates" that's not a very big block. Also state chairmen make up a lot of those and ron paul supporters have been winning some state chair elections.

It's happening at state conventions all over the country. If Romney has all this support how are Ron Paul supporters able to win all these delegates using the same rules?

Looks like the bulk of delegates for AZ, Ok, Va, and waiting but hopeful in Wi. Lots of broken rules, backroom counts, and turning the lights of etc by the old establishment GOP. Once again, If Romney has so much support why is he getting dominated by Ron Paul at so many state conventions? RP is the peoples candidate thats why.
