There are way too many good races happening in July this year. We need more good stuff in late summer/early fall - Aug, Sept, Oct. Just sayin.

Yes....like what Winter Park did. They took a photo of your bike at registration and if anyone had a complaint, they brought out the photo.

Particle....I agree, would love to do this event later in the summer, but we have Blast the Mass Aug 3-5 and the lifts only run until Labor Day. The elevation we are running this event at could be under snow by mid Sept and generally is snowed in by Oct.

registered and stoked. Should be interesting as I only rode Aspen 5+ years ago for one day on the old XC course. I'll have a LOT of new trail to learn.

    Yes you do!
Early reg has been great! If you have friends interested, get them signing up ASAP! Remember, we are capping the event at 300 racers total.

    Nitro,
What is your part in the race at snowmass? Sounds like you are involved at some level. The race sounds sick. Are you racing in it?

Agree with Particle, so many Enduros in July! Wish I could make Aspen. Signed up for Buff Pass Enduro which I'm wondering if it will get killed by the NAET Wasatch event the same weekend? Thinking about Trestle...

First...I wish I could race in it. But thats where the inspiration came from. I wanted to come up with a race that I would do. After 13+ years of XC racing up until 2003....I did not want to hear the words 3..2..1...go ever again. We have been talking about this type of racing over the last 5 years and WP killed it last year. We are excited to build on that event and this form of racing. Yes, I've been involved with race promoting in CO on an off for over a decade and I'm working with the Aspen Skiing Company and the Town of Snowmass to make this event a success in year one.

The DH.....This is the real deal. Check out Blast the Mass Downhill on Yourtube. We will have some mando go arounds for ams....Pro Men, however, will be required to "Send it" or "Walk it"

Any idea the timing/points format? EG, is it a cumulative time event or is it points awarded at the end of each stage?

good groupon deal on housing available for a few more days. Not stoked on climbing back up the road when I am done though.

Nitro, thanks for sharing. Hopefully we'll cross paths at the race. Even though I am not racing pro, i prefer to "send" it.

jeff, you gotta remember it. its the little air at the end of the DH course where you jump over those couple steps. 4-5 feet maybe? you have to pre-jump sorta far back on a DH bike or you land down in the flats.

interesting to see how folks take that on a xc bike. almost lame that AM's can't hit it, but i can imagine the carnage. super straight forward anyhow.

HA! Yes, I do remember. I just knew they switched the course up since I raced last. I also remember sending a 40-50+ (?) ft road gap back in the day there. Just wondering what 'sending' means these days (on that course).

If memory serves, its super high speed. Could be fucking scary on an AM bike!!!

I never properly raced the course, but isn't there another drop after the trail crosses one of the access roads near the bottom third of the course as well? Maybe you are talking about the same thing.

Yup, at 1:50-ish, I think thats the one. Just gotta hit the brakes on the road and suck it up. Hucking is not rewarded.

If it is the one I have in mind its followed by a right hander then a left hander into Hells Kitchen shortly thereafter. I never foun it that hard at all...Hells Kitchen was where the race was won/lost...(sorta).

We will have a bike shuttle at the end of Fri stage if you cant organize a ride back up from the finish.

Yup...the road drop is the worthy line into the right hander. The jump at the end of the section can be rolled if needed. We have a go around for Ams on the road drop.

I was joking about my housing choice at the Top of the Village and having to pedal up. I have a support crew (family) that will have my shuttle, thanks though.
