Funken tore up valhalla and showed me the choice lines down the uber D course as well. His guiding seriously saved he 20 miles of practice runs. Super fun running into him and his buddy

I got about 90% of valhalla jumps dialed, gawd damn, that is a funkin fantastic trail. Can't wait to ride vapor tomorrow morning.

Nice meeting a few Mags today! Fun time, weird area to announce at, but I had fun watching everyone hammer it out to the finish. Finishes will be in Base Village tomorrow, so that'll make it a little more festive and have more of a chill vibe I think. You can only see the last little bit of trail from there though. Heard all good comments about the race so far... let me know if there is anything we can do better.

What a fun stage. I smashed my CB pedal up on vapor and could only click in on one angle, each time my foot came out, it took me a minute or more of smashing at it to get reclipped, then took a spectacular crash in the woods, but was able to get back on it. Currently 9th, BrettF is sitting 6th, not sure what other mags are here, but let's have a beer tomorrow.

Super fun stage. The mega-d did not disapoint. Tough sleeping last night with bruised ribs from warm up lap crash on vallhala. Note to self, full speed not necessary on upper jumps.

Btw, some fast mofos showed up for this race. Woohoo!

Even better than the chainless was the feast of food and beer afterwards. Dude who won the new reign x bike is a lucky mofo! Nitro and buck are putting on a great event for sure.

They did a great job... I'd be surprised to see this tweaked too much next year. Maybe get a few more competitors... but I liked how quick everything went this weekend. Announcing the downhill was really easy since we could actually see some action.
Great job some Mags making podiums and competing in general!

yeah Wentz was insanely fast, I think he broke 9 minutes in the chainless and was 4:05 in the DH, which is just nuts considering the course was a LEGIT DH course and we were all on all-mtn rigs. Pretty sure someone said the pro winner was on a 29er. 4th place in pro was a young local kid on a 29er hardtail.

Guys, I had a hoot of a time. I don't really ever race, so it was a lot of fun to participate in, all the amateurs were very cool and there was a great supportive vibe among the competitors, which was really fun. I learned a ton and plan on coming back next year.

GRR and Nitro really did their best to keep it fair and listened to any feedback that people had, considering it was their first year, I really can't think of a better format, they nailed it.

Winner was Nate Hills, he was on a Slash...fwiw.

VERY mad at myself for not making this one happen. Next year...next year.

(and yeah, Wentz is really really good)

beast, i was wondering if that was you in the team geronimo gear. I should have asked.

Beast scorched a 4:22 (me thinks) with a mechanical, broken chain?

    Sweet write up and pics.

ah, good, i would have looked like a goof then. Pretty sure he ran the whole course chainless, i think he said his chain broke before the start.

Funken, you would have done well in the race

Thank you guys! It was awesome. Make sure to thank the Aspen Skiing Company for all of the support. They really are doing a great job embracing Snowmass as a summer destination. Valhala is just the beginning! Thanks to ShockTop for giving away the bike. And of course, my buddy, Steve Rausch. The Uber D course has been a dream of ours for quite some time and to see everyone slaying it was so awesome!

Turns out it is upper vapor trail. I assume it eliminates the shitty loose road portion that you used to have to ride to get to vapor. Looks FAST.
