"RCMP are warning skiers and snowboaders to be cautious when heading into the trees.
This, after a snowboarder was found unconscious and upside down in a tree well this morning on Blackcomb Mountain.
Whistler Staff Sergeant Steve Leclair says a passerby skiing in the 7th Heaven area saw the boarder and called for help.
"........it appears that he was snowboarding and possibly fell forward into a tree well and that the snow around the tree well collapsed on him and he was unable to extricate himself."
He was treated by first responders, but was later pronounced dead.
He has not yet been identified.
Leclair says he had been snowboarding in bounds."
