I had a great season. Not a ton of snow around these parts but the few storms we did get were good and the mountain biking through January was incredible. I visited Jackson during that 8 foot January dump, hit up Silverton after 42 inches of fresh and rode in a heli for the first time, went sky diving for the first three times, enjoyed a 60 inch in three day monster storm here in AZ, and I got to watch my 4 year old daughter make some big break throughs skiing! It actually may have been the best winter of my life now looking back at it all. STOKED!

Indeed. This season i was able to work on my east coast skiing skills and log a lot of hardpack days. it's been hard on the body, but i've been able to build some new skills that i hope will serve me well in the future.

This season has been great. Started slow, but that was perfect for hanging out with my son at elevation and getting him used to feeling stuffed up. Low snow meant it was great strolling weather in the resort - no snow banks to hide us from motorist who still don't know how to drive on snow. Then it came. I was lucky enough to get 6 or so powder days and a few super fun tour days. Found the bush huck (one of my favorites) good to go twice. And there is still more to come. Getting back up with my son this weekend and plan to take him out touring again. Good times.

I've had some awesome days but, fun days aside, it has been a slow season with a very late start and lots of downtime between major weather events. A mediocre Teton season in terms of % of days with fresh pow but an ok season in terms of quality dumps. In other words, it was good when we got it. Like last month (warmest March ever?) - almost three shitty weeks of rain, crusts and above freezing temps but there were two incredible 25-30 inch dumps and 5 days of joy in there too. We've had around a dozen storms that produced boot deep dry powder and a few thigh deep days. I've seen a few seasons that were worse. A lot worse with a thin base and the same amount of waiting around but with no big payoffs. At least it has gotten cold again so it feels like snow and fun is a possibility. We lost a lot of opportunities for snow because of warmth. Maybe 10 storm days when it just howled warm wind and drizzled rain - twice as many as I've ever seen at the ghee before. Targhee might be over 500" instead of approaching 400" if we had gotten snow instead of rain throughout March.

I got a new pair or 112's in November and the bases/edges are still virgin ... haven't hit a thing

It was slow season but I feel like I made the best of it. I had some great powder days at Stowe and Jackson Hole. Could've been a lot worse. Not to mention I got a jump on mountain bike season. Its April 3rd and I've been riding regularly since early February.

my season continues to be much fun.

i think the big difference between the current and typical seasons is that it often felt like there was no there - there.

if it snowed one day, there was a scramble to change the schedule and get at it ... since there was always a chance it would be an ice rink a few days later.

i got my edges sharpened for the first time in years (after often just grabbing the least dull-edged pair on the rare days when things were firm)...and remembered how much fun it could be to work through tough conditions by getting a little more dialed-in. sure i broke a rib or two on a hard landing in february...and scored a nice purple bruise on my hip more recently...but that just made the great days that much better.

and there were many.

scored some great pow days at smuggs - which became my other home mountain (thanks TC) while most of VT was being under-served - including my best day ever in the late feb snowpocalypse...and then my best/deepest run ever first run the (bluebird) day after.

the spring bumps have been excellent, if a month early...but it's now april and it's cold and there are still good lift-served options into the forseeable future. a couple of weeks ago skiing in april was looking doubtful at best.

...and all season, have had great and festive hangs with my ski partners - when they've actually come out - and made some new friends along the way

yep ... good at the beginning, tough in the middle (hip/back problem) and good at the end.... I'll take it.

GSA approved raised hand.... Been a great season and not over yet! Schweitzer is reporting an all-time snowpack record with 211" at the summit. It was good early, dry for a month or so, and lots of fresh ever since and still coming. So yeah, good and fun!

read the title bobby. this winter, for me, was all about mixing it up. best mtb conditions you could ever expect in winter combined with many sweet sleeper swells, and some damn fine pow skiing as well. uncrowded waves, uncrowded slopes, uncrowded trails and you could do it all, pretty much all winter.

The few days I did have were good, but knee problems and the terrible mistake of having a gf who doesn't ski and wanted me to spend time with her on weekends seriously cut into my days on snow.

Won't be making that mistake again.

OTOH, I was back home over spring break, and my great white buffalo from high school called me up to go skiing. She also hikes, bikes, camps, climbs, ... , etc. as well as any guy (or better).

I might just marry this girl if I get half a chance.

This...plus it's always a great season when it isn't interrupted by orthopedic surgery (sorry Rideit)

And, as noted by the other PNW mags, the season is far from over

11 total days. 4 at snowbird over mlk wknd. despite lack of snowfall, mineral basin opened my first day and last day there was 4-6 fresh. great to get out there. 4 days in vail feb 10-14. timed the snowcycle perfectly 5-9 fresh everyday with bluebird. amazing time. 3 days in vermont first wknd of march. hit magic for the first time ever on 18 inches of new and had 2 fun days at stratton. my local hill is 7springs, pa abt 3 hrs away and they never had anything all season. all 11 days were a blast and better than nothing. can't wait for next season already with a brand new 2013 board lib tech just gave me under warranty from my 2011. had a bad streak of back to back injuries in 2010/2011 so definitely thankful no injuries this year.

Yes. Despite the poor snow year, getting back on skis after ACL/MCL surgery (Class of 2011) feels great!

It was alright I guess..

Despite abismal snowfall in the Northeast, had a great season as it was shared with friends every step of the way. Made my second treck to SLC at the beginning of March and caught a nice storm (7 consecutive pow days!). Edit here depicts some of the low angle fun we had inbounds at Alta and Brighton from the POV of one of my companions:



Sad to see it end, but looking forward to another great one.
