TR: Tribute to Romeo from BC
Charlie Houston always said he wanted to be memorialized while still alive. It is the only way you truly know how much you mean to your friends and family. I hope you realize how many people you influenced, Romeo. Your name came up multiple times every day during this trip. It was as if you were on the skin track with us. You will be missed. Rest in peace.

I had ten days off work Aaron and I headed to the Duffey with the hopes of getting on big peaks. For about half the trip, it looked like this wouldn't happen. The snow just kept coming.

_Aaron_
The pow was good.

Aaron enjoyed himself as well.

While waiting for the snow to stabilize a bit, we found some smaller lines. The Tetard in Aaron just couldn't pass up this couloir and he rode it like a champ.

I ventured further up the ridge. Part of me hated to downclimb into a line when surrounded by glaciers.

Back to the hut to be destroyed in chess by an 8 year old.

_Aaron_
Then some mini golf.

A little celebration is in order.

The next morning we headed toward the Central Couloir on Joffre. The snow was blower down low.

And bluebird up high. Yessss.

_Aaron_
The basin was massive and gorgeous.

Just when we got to the second bergschrund, the weather started to deteriorate.

A few minutes after this picture was taken, two things caused us to turn around. First, the visibility went to nearly zero. Navigating glaciers in whiteout was not something we wanted to do. Second, a massive (D 3.5-5) slide came from skier's left from serac collapse. The powder cloud engulfed towers a few hundred feet tall and the slide ran full track or about 4000 vertical onto the flats. It propagated across a large portion of the bowl. The sound of crushing ice was intense.

It was sobering to have our skin track wiped out. Natural slides paint safe route finding in a completely different light.

It ran to the end of this picture.

The next day we were back at it. Matier looking prime (and yes it skied good but no pictures are available).
I can't believe you are a rando racer because I look so much better in Lycra than you.

There's something uniquely beautiful about glacier ice.

Our next line is to the left of this picture.

Taken the next day.

This is going to be good.

_Aaron_
In true BC style, the sun left just as we were ready to drop. The light was flat to say the least. Aaron sent it.

To give a sense of scale, that's me midway down the couloir.

_Aaron_
One more day, a few more lines. The scale is so much different than we are accustomed to. Sometimes it felt like we were on a treadmill. The couloirs were never ending.

_Aaron_
The Sword of Damocles was ever present.

Our cool down for the day.

The final turns of the trip.

Aaron says take care of your feet in wet climates.

A few parting panos from Aaron.

Im pretty bad at these sort of things but Ill give it my best shot.
Steve was my first mentor, one of my first friends in Jackson, and one of my biggest inspirations. He pointed me in the right direction even if the "right" direction was just away from his line. Youre constant stoke and insight will never be forgotten. Thanks for everything Steve.
A couple more shots

Some Kiwi's skied the Aussie Couloir. It was fun to watch

Have to return for this one

Foon Face, Twin One, Central. Nicely done. All you now have to do is ski from the top and tunnel thru the cornices. What could possibly go wrong
"The snow just kept coming" .... aww poor andy. So when you're going to move here? Lots more lines for aaron and you

hell yeah.
Great Tribute...I ski, not because I regard skiing as being so terribly important but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant - and not nearly so much fun.

Otherwise it won't be until the summer of 2013 and even then it will be Bellingham. Don't worry though, the coast has me firmly in its grasp.
