I threw $20 more at it yesterday and I think I'm going to have to do about that much more today. Getting close to a C-note on this one. But I'm having fun and the puzzled looks from the neighbors make it worth it....

May swap one or more out if I get to shoot what I hope to this weekend. Unfortunately I got a pretty slammed week. For now anyways...

This is a really good MPC so far.

If anyone needs inspiration, you dont need to do all sorts of cool techy stuff to make a good long exposure image. This is mando alvarez, and his night stuff kicks ass...

    Thx.

Sorry I don't have a cooler car to shoot this with. I guess I missed that part in my midlife crisis....

^ Lonnie, that is a cool shot. If you don't mind my saying so, I'd love to see it with evening city light streaks in the background for a more urban feel.

Unfortunately, this MPC went up the day AFTER I left DC, so tried something VERY experimental for entry #1:

I hear what you are saying (and I've been looking for a spot to take something like that), but 1/2 the challenge for me was doing something in the daytime (or morning in this case), which in my mind raised the level of difficulty up a notch. Given the little one at home, his eating and sleeping schedule, my work schedule, sunrise and sunset, and a whole host of other factors (like me living in the damn suburbs, lol), that's the best shot I've come up with so far. If the weather cooperates tomorrow, I hope to get out and do a couple of more shoots before this ends. I've got a couple of locations scouted out (or in mind at least), we'll see if I can make them work. Given the setup needed to take this shot, I kind of need lots of open space in the shot or I risk getting my camera pummeled.

This was just my best attempt to date. I've got two more stabs at it before this thing is over!

What exactly did you do there lonnie?

Trying to figure it out, but can't comprehend how you froze a moving? car in a 2 second exposure... Was the camera somehow tracking it?

Bracket mounted (suction cup?) onto the the front of the car, then remove bracket in post. Cool shot! Schralph's first is great too.

^^ Pretty close, but more DIY. Maybe I'll do a mini-tutorial about what I learned after this thing is over.
