I was at this dinner yesterday where all these women were talking about Shades and they were saying they skipped over the sex parts to keep following the storyline. Which is horrifying if true. Because as far as I can tell the storyline is some rich guy fucks this chick and after 3 books they get married.

Nah I heard it right. It was a dinner with my wife's extended famiy, the girlfriend of a cousin came up with that shit but then the bitches started nodding and agreeing. Not sure if they just didn't want to look like sluts or if they were telling the truth. Some of both, probably.

I know a woman who read the series and she said she had been getting her toys out WAY more often. I know the books get ALOT of woman REALLY worked up but didn't feel like listening to the passages she wanted to read me. I just told her to get a good adult film out -- she could read the book and I would be all about the movie. Then we could meet in the middle.

Sounds like a typical case of having your cake and eating it too. God forbid they admit they liked the book for what it was, a steaming pile of crap with S&M sex scenes that turned them on. Let me guess, these are professional type women, college educated, strong women-ist types? DC or Boston? Prolly doesn't really matter, but I am guessing DC. They need to get over themselves. Like my dad always says," The only ones that haven't figured out that women are in charge, are the feminists."

FWIW- My wife is a professional, college educated (SMU for that matter), strong minded woman, and she told every horny bitch in our neighborhood about this book. Such a trend setter. She couldn't give two flying fucks about what anyone thinks of her. I've actually heard her tell someone that before. Funny thing is, it makes her even more "cool" to these little sheep suburbanites. Sounds like the ladies at the dinner party are full of it, and worried about public opinion as it pertains to their libido.

Yeah you got it one take, DC area too. At least my wife had the sense to keep out of the conversation. What got me is that they thought saying they "read it for the storyline" made it better when in fact it made it much worse because I read about ten pages before I had to put that shit down. Horrible. Then I picked it back up, searched for "orgasm" on the kindle and just read those parts. Contrived, horrible writing, ridiculous dialogue, but hey, not too bad.

sounds like our wives would get along btw.

There is no storyline.. at least not in the first book, which is the only one I read...

That's what I'm saying. But if you need some drama and some like-you-read-about loving, Advres is ready to roll. It might be horrible, but hey maybe not.

I think you're mistaking "fantasy" for what women really want. Just 'cause they fantasize about a strong gorilla having his way with them, doesn't mean that's what they'd really want in their "real" lives.
I'm assuming the married fellas in here often fantasize about scenarios that wouldn't necessarily play out well in "real life". Just because we dream of life with an 18yo porn star wife doesn't mean we think we'd be happy with a porn star wife for more than about 24hrs. It's called fantasy. It's why the interwebz are so popular.

You'd be surprised how this isn't a fantasy for many, and could easily become reality for many more.

I got a Kindle for Xmas and loaded this up out of curiosity and research. Jezuz, what lame writing.

That's the equivalent of "I buy Playboy to read the articles". My wife is on book 2, and it produced 1 episode of morning sex when she rudely woke me up in the middle of a hot dream with a 21 year old virgin sporting latex and a gagball. So, the sex was a bit of a letdown.

My wife claims the reason women like it so much is because the guy is so into the girl which is probably hot to married women who are many years removed from this experience.

All it did for my wife is fire up her entrepreneurial drive. Since the books aren't exactly tours de force in writing, she's now convinced she could also write a similar book and make millions.

bump, because apparently there is now a book telling the 'story' from his perspective.

"She's oil on my troubled, deep, dark waters."

I don't have the book but I am pretty entertained by the reviews right now. yes, one of those is a buzzfeed link. ginger anyone?

My wife didn't like the book, so I guess I sort of jumped the gun. Anyone want a deal on some restraints and associated gear?

What was all the excitement about this movie, I almost stopped watching it 30 minutes into it, but I stuck with it. I give a 3/10
