    FS: Training for Alaska Gear

To help you get in touch with your inner gaper while preparing for Alaska we have set up a special section at our store, SlideWright.com:

    Training for Alaska Gear

Items like Cat Trax will help you motor on the boot packs. Some say they work as well as crampons on dicey hike-to-terrain cat tracks. They're awesome all the way up to 4° slopes and treadmills!

Like traveling to New Mexico, you'll need a passport, shots, water treatment and meds because you can't drink the water. Our travel kit and pleated totes helps you organize and carry all those tablets, lotions and colognes. Our filters will help clean that Alaskan water to taste just like a fresh bottle of Poland Springs.

When Montezuma's revenge gets you, and you know it will, there's nothing like a portable toilet strapped to your back pack while skiing when the need arises. You can clip in while still wearing your climbing harness AND it works great as a rest stool while setting up your Go-Pros.

For carrying an extra dozen Gaper Pros our padded camera cases can be attached to belts, pack straps or harnesses.

The list goes on and we'll add more items that seem appropriate for your monumental quest. If you have any creative suggestions for other items in our store to add to this special section, please list them here, along with proper use suggestions.

Don't forget to pick up a field notebook and pens for recording training progress, writing GSA prose, deep thoughts and words of wisdom to share with others, along with hours upon hours of gripping multi-directional POV.

For the younger trainees we offer a smaller harness and tip keeper set. The Harness comes with a kid handle to carry kids like carry on luggage or for resistance training. The handle is also great for schlepping the young 'uns up the boot pack to the untracked crud.

Clipping a couple dozen or so LED blinkers on your pack and clothes and bindings is always worth considering for optimum safety, especially during those low visibility training seasons. They also help in the event you need to be rescued from a tree well.

A must have for ski area snow analysis is a snow saw. They also work great for trimming those pesky, snagging branches on those groomer tree islands that are less than 40 feet apart at your favorite training area.

Our moto: "Trim a branch, save a Go Pro!"

Lets face it, while getting proficient and in shape for high alpine climbing on the treadmill with all of your gear at sea level, it can get pretty boring. 'Be an Expert with Map & Compass' is a great read that not only helps pass the time, but could save your butt on those long hike-to slogs.

Coupled with a fine compass, you won't need a GPS, because you'll be an an expert navigator.

You must have a selection of Gaper Bars and Drinks? You know the ones that give you almost unlimited energy, Clif and Red Bull are pussies by comparison.

Well, duh....that's what boat straps and cargo nets are for. ...or you use your kid harness. It comes with extra capacity straps! It's win/win.For those big gnar days, you may need one of these bad boy Load Warrior nets:

I vote for GSA look-a-like ski days with vids and pics, and contests with a Gnar-Gaper point system.

Can some one translate what the crotch pouch is for in the down onesi? Also if it is for my fleshlight collection (as I assume it is) does anyone carry a handy head mounted solar panel or small wind power unit that can mount to duel GoPro mounts, I'd hate to run outta power?

You need a dedicated binding adjustment screwdriver for when Ski N See sizes you bindings incorrectly

This gave me an idea to contact some major sport drink manufacturers. Apparently, the GSA has caused major interest in the board rooms and created a mad scramble for R&D to quickly bring to market a product to ride the wave. We are pleased to announce that the preliminary result of these discussions that someday we will bring you the ultimate sports drink:

I was thinking of getting stickers made that you can put on a water bottle.

We asked for, and received, this as a wedding gift. Kind of a gag gift. It comes in handy when you have to show a Ranger a toilet at your undeveloped campsite around Moab. We still have not taken a shit on it though. That is what the shovel is for.

On the Grand, shovels are not cool and discouraged (if not illegal) and on day 17 the rockin' and stinkin' groovers were maxed out. We set up one of the Cleanwaste toilets and the morning Moment of Zens were vastly improved.
