Important Maggot Fund update - please read! Thank you
The Maggot Fund was envisioned by the TGR tour to help a member of our community who is in need. In its first year, 150 people purchased tickets to contribute towards this worthwhile cause, and in order to help make the amount more meaningful, we raised the per ticket donation to a flat $5 each for a raise of $750. We have high hopes that, with your help, this will continue to build and become much more meaningful in future years.
The Maggot Fund is (and should be) a community-driven concept. As such, we are now reaching out to you to help us decide to whom the money should be provided – this has been a difficult year for many of us and the industry has lost some incredible people, and there is no doubt that there are many worthy recipients.
With that in mind, when we first came up with the idea for the Maggot Fund, we never knew how close to home this might hit, and so we would like to put forth a member of the TGR family itself as the potential recipient.
Randolph Green has been the California / Nevada / Arizona representative for the TGR tour, and unfortunately is in what could be the final bout with cancer that has been ravaging him for over two years. Even through the multiple chemotherapy treatments, the vomiting, the pain, the uncertainty, Randolph showed up 100% for the tour and for TGR. He was the man behind the Jeremy Jones Deeper World Premiere in Truckee California, which in my mind was the most incredible movie premiere I have ever attended. In addition to spreading the stoke with the tour Randolph has been an integral part of the Tahoe and California kayaking scene, organizing local paddlefests at the Reno Whitewater Park and organizing the Brush Creek race in Kernville.
Unfortunately the cancer that started in his esophagus and looked to be beaten has returned with a vengeance. Randolph recently had a metal rod inserted in his femur in order to strengthen it due to a large cavity that the cancer had eaten out. Now the same evil disease has taken aim at other parts of his body and is growing uncontrollably.
Currently Randolph resides in a room at the Saint Mark’s hospital in Salt Lake City, but should be returning home soon. When he returns home Randolph will need to have at-home nursing care and will need continuous IV fluids and pain meds.
Over the weekend of Feb 25th and Feb 26th I visited Randolph at his hospital room. Reminiscing over past adventures, funny campfire stories and life with young children the unfairness of life really struck home. He shouldn’t be hooked up to five separate beeping medical devices! We should be skiing Squaw or paddling the Yuba or drinking beers and laughing our asses off. Our kids should be playing together and forming the next generation of getting after it, instead of visiting dad in his hospital bed. This disease named cancer takes no prisoners and knows no boundaries; it is evil in every sense of the word.
The attached post was created by Randolph for a friend of his that is also suffering from cancer. What he doesn’t mention in the post is that while he was on this trip he too was suffering from the disease – that is the kind of guy that Randolph is.

The purpose of the Maggot Fund was to help one of our own and the TGR Tour would propose that on behalf of all of us who contributed to the Maggot Fund, we make the donation to the Randolph Green family, which includes Randolph, his wife Amy and their two children, Charlie and Lily. We invite your thoughts on this important matter.
Separately, we have set up a “filmtour@tetongravity.com” account on Paypal for those who want to donate directly – all funds received using that email address will be provided to Randolph and his family. The members of the TGR tour team will personally be donating $500 to Randolph’s family, and on behalf of them, appreciate any efforts from the TGR community.
Thanks for reading and for everything you do to make this community such a great place.

I have met Randolph a few times from friends in common in Reno. What a class act, and a great human. This would be a GREAT donation. I only wish that I had more to give and to offer. I honestly didn't even know that Randolph was a mag or one of TGR's own. Randolph, thanks for inspiring me, even indirectly to be a better dad to my daughter, who has played with your own kids over at Sharon & JCs. Stay strong.

Sent. I wish Randolph and all affected by these tragic circumstances the best. I have a sister who has struggled with a similar situation and I can say that it is tough both mentally and physically on the afflicted and the family. It is a day by day coping process. I send vibes +++++++++++ also hoping for the best.

This is what makes this community such a great place. Thanks so much to those of you that have already responded, either here or privately - for your messages of support and/or for your donations to Randolph and his family. They are both very much appreciated.

update
All,
Thank you so much for your generosity and thoughts, and sorry for taking a while to update this. Unfortunately, Randolph passed away from this terrible disease recently, he was surrounded by friends and family and in the relative comfort of his own home.
Thanks to all of you we are in position to be making a donation of close to $2,000 to his wife and two children with our inaugural Maggot Fund. Randolph embodied the best of what makes the skiing lifestyle so special - his passion for life, enthusiasm (and sarcasm) and selflessness were a joy to everyone who knew him. He will be missed but not forgotten, and there will be many runs made on the mountains and rivers with him in mind.
Thanks again for making the first year of the Maggot Fund such a success and for your generosity towards Randolph and his family.
