Great stoke Lee, loved the little shot where you ran into the camera and it tilted up to the trees. Couldn't plan it better than that!

Interesting data point to add into this whole 29'ers in BC and on the Shore.
Did a ride last night with a very well respected rider that has TONS of time on a number of different 29'ers all over the Sea to Sky and around the world. He's building up a new personal trail bike...a 26'er. After a couple years on the 29'er he feels they lack playfullness and fun, especially on our Shore trails with tight corners that you are usually hard on the breaks. He'll keep is 29'er for other stuff, but the Shore is back to 26'ers.

Who is that shirk? I'd like to add another datapoint. At this point after about 8 rides (Pemby, Squamish, Shore), I'd prefer the Bandit over the Bandit 29er for tight slow trails with unrelenting tech between all features (ie Shore and from what I've seen New England) but the Bandit 29er over the 26er if I had trails with a tech features here and there but places where you can get speed in between the tech (ie almost everywhere else in the world including Bellingham, Whistler valley, Pemberton.
This is still very preliminary though as I haven't really subjected the 29er to the dorp to falt test on anything major. Also will swap in a light wheelset

that's pretty much what's kept me away from them too...I considered it a bit before getting my new rig, but for the kind of riding I like, and how I like to ride, I just don't think 29'ers do it for me. The compromises aren't worth the advantages for what I'm looking for. Not that they aren't fun once in a while.

From what I know about you, we're probably on the same page. We'll see what happens once I get this thing but I get the feeling the rear wheel is going to end up in my taint quite a bit.

Hey Lee, we're pretty much game on in about a week. It just rained for two days here and I just scowled at my skis and blew a kiss at my bikes. No hurry though, the 'real' rides I want to pound on will still be a while.

the fucking ski season seemed to shut down 3 weeks ago when it went from + 10 to -10 in 4 hours. Since then it's rained for 18 of the last 21 days and temps have been stupid high. ararrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhh hhhhhhhh
As you can see from the video the 29er tire gets awfully close to the balls on the steeps. It's a bit disconcerting but then i don't want kids. It's fun to jump and str8line into rock gardens though
We should talk off-line about how i get the bike to you.

It's funny. After switching bikes and putting an offset headset in the turner, hopping on the thing felt exactly like my enduro as far as fit.
There were a few things that started to bug me about the enduro that the turner fixed. The biggest one was stiffness. The turner has a much more stout rear end/swingarm. The second was how much tinkering I had to do to get the enduro dialed suspension-wise. Nothing huge and I did get it pretty dialed, but it took some time. I actually miss the dc fork on the enduro. Going back to a single crown (even a 36), it's just not the same steering precision. A lot of it honestly had to do with a test ride I got on a buddy's 5 spot at downieville. Long story short, he had his bike setup way too soft and it felt like a much more plush bike than the travel number would indicate. Since getting my own, I realized how screwed up that was for a bike you'll be climbing on and truth be told, there's not a whole lot of difference in overall feel between my 5 spot now, and the enduro then. If the enduro were stiffer, I'd probably still be riding it. Shiny new things........ Oh well.
I should have a review up soon. It's next on the list (I just finished a ski review last night, mostly to get onto this)

immediately thought the initials might be TP. if it is that would say alot. even though he has been killing it on the 29 ht, i always wondered with his background. i haven't tried one, but i'm thinking w my elevated age and stiffness i might lose what little playfulneess i have left. still think of a few places it'd be cool though
