Broken Fibula- Residual Foot Pain
Hi, I broke my fibula early January this year, and thankfully didn't need surgery. I spent 1 month in a boot and crutches, 1 month in a boot and no crutches, and now I am wearing a sling. I am walking now, but the area behind my little toe is killing me, I can't seem to put any weight on it. I can't afford to go back to the ortho, so I am hoping someone here has had a similar experience and could help out. I'm wondering if I simply spent too much time not moving my foot, that now that I'm putting weight on it, it's just not used to it? I seriously have no idea! It's driving me nuts though, because I'm hoping to start crossing the country on bike next month. Please help!

How did your injury happen? Are you still limping?

I fell off of a V2 bouldering problem at a rock climbing gym. It was about 15 feet that I fell. I'm still limping, I had one day that I didn't limp after I massaged my foot the night before, but now I'm back to limping all day every day. This is like 2.5 months after the injury...

could be that your foot hurst from you limping, or there is a oft tissue injury to the lateral part of your foot that went undiagnosed since the fracture was first priority. tough to tell without an exam.
I'd suggest finding a good ATC or PT and have them take a look.

Hey Shawna,
Does it seem like the bone is tender to touch? It's posssible you could have developed a stress fracture.

Styloid process of the 5th metatarsal is a common insertion place for injury especially if your tendons have shortened in the non weight bearing period. then when you go to walk again...BAM... tendon strain/tear. Hard to tell exactly what without seeing it in person.
go find a PT

Find a reflexologist and get a session.
I did it last week and it was an awakening for my feet.
