So that means expensive flight > Vegas + trying to bum a ride with cdlv is out for sure. Checking flights to LAX now. Looks like R/T via LAX will be about the same as one way from JFK > Vegas. How far is the drive from LA? Anyone going to be driving from LA late night weds/ early thurs (flight I am looking at lands just after midnight). Need to be back in CT on Sunday night, so I'd have to grab an EARLY Sunday AM flight home.
Most importantly, is there a slopeside Ritz Carlton to rest my weary bones?
Mammoth or bust!
(hope I don't bust!)Going where the wind don't blow so strange
Maybe on some high cold mountain range

Anyone have some discounts or BAf I could use? Please send a PM or link. I am wrapping things up here and headed on a road trip on Friday. Hoping to get these set before I leave and have spotty service.
jgb - I'll be in Palm Springs, leaving early enough on Thursday to get early lift (8:30) at Chair 2. Need to be back Friday night, so I be leaving after skiing on Friday. You are welcome to join, if you can get out to PS, either way.
oh - like 90% sure at this point.

Thanks Stev.
So, now, who is going to be around on Thursday? Anyone interested in doing a day of touring? How is Tioga going to look after this week's storm? I'd love to get back to Bloody, but assume the bushwack is brutal.

2 for 1 flights were advertised on the Mammoth site for awhile.
Also would love to take a BAF off someone's hands if they had an extra. I am driving in from Sun Valley for a wedding and will be looking to shred/apres with you all on Friday/Saturday.

It's snowing in Mammoth now...

I have several BAF invites, just PM a name and email address and I will send one.
They need to be done at least one day in advance of ticket purchase. I believe they are $62 per ticket, and good for up to three days worth of tickets. Normal ticket price is $92, but will likely drop as soon as they close Canyon and Eagle sides of the hill.

Fort FKNA options were melting out fast, but with this storm I don't think any of the usual options will be snow free. Areas out towards 395 of Benton Crossing/hot springs area might be clear.
This will help a lot for the top of the mountain skiing. Most of the 'noids had difficult entrances on Sunday, Hangers was closed and Huevos was unskiable. I saw one set of tracks off top of the world set by somebody with some really big balls, but a big dump might just open some options up there as well. Avi chutes were skiable, but held pretty shitty (firm) snow, so they should be ripe now, as well as Viva, Shaft, et al.

I believe Canyon and Eagle close on Sunday 4/14.

If we get the couple of feet some are calling for I doubt it, but prior to this it was melting fast, and if it warms enough it will again.

I'm afraid I may be out for the Mini. I'm trying to talk my 14 year-old daughter to coming with me. But if she won't/can't, then I'm out. Ex-wife is taking son to check out CU Boulder next weekend before he has to choose schools.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

Ride Needed: Bay Area to Mammy & Back? Down Thur 4/19 & back Sun/Mon?
^^^^ Ah, that's a shame. Oh well. C'est la vie...
So now Cinders & I need a ride down to the Mini, and back, if we are going to attend.
Any takers?
We buy all the gas, but don't drive. A bit flexible on when we leave here, or there.
There is a slight chance we can persuade a couple of the girls we ski with to take the drive down...we'll find out this weekend.
We could look into flying, but then would have to leave certain pieces of "vital equipment" behind.
Might take a pass now, and try and get down in a week or 3...if the snow lasts...

Well this whole early thing is catching a lot of people in a bind. Is it time to consider the 20th a "mini-mini" and return the regular mini to early May?

And a lot of people have already made plans for this week. It's been called for the last month to make certain there would be sufficient snow to allay the fears of those who didn't remember how much it dumps in the Sierra in the spring. This is it. If you'd like to schedule a second one, start a thread and call it. I'll show up. But calling for a status change five days before the start?

I'm so bummed I'll be missing this weekend's festivities. I really wanted to get to Mammoth when more of the mountain is open. But I'd definitely be up for some sort of reprise in a month or so.

Is there a schedule of events/meet times, or should we just plan on using the mill/chair 2 as ground zero?
Whoa, what you gotta say?? Whoa, girls turn 18 every day!!!

It looks like I will have 4 adult lift ticket vouchers and 4 youth lift ticket vouchers for sale. I'll sell the adult ones for $50 a piece and the youth for $40. Youth can be used by anyone who is 18 and under, or someone who turned 19 after November 2011. Or by anyone who just wants to act young, they've never asked anyone I know of for ID if they looked fairly young. You just have to go to the season ticket line in any lodge at the beginning of the day; it takes about a minute to get your actual ticket.
Also, if anyone want to crash in a house for a low nightly rate (full kitchen, but bring a sleeping bag since there's just a few mattresses lying around), please PM me.
