Mammoth Mini 2012 - April 19 -22
APRIL 19 - 22 are the dates for the mini.
Splat called me yesterday, asking when I would post the Mini announcement. I have no idea if Mammoth will be open in May - so anyone want to start by coming up with some April dates? I think the first Mini was in April?
Maybe this time I'll actually make it.
oh, and apologies to Splat for not posting this in the correct forumLast edited by yogachik; 03-21-2012 at 07:46 PM.

Best maggot event of the year. Let's do it all again!
We've had some good pow for April minis.
On a year like this, just the thought of a mammoth mini is stokifying, yc.

I'd say a late April mini, we can always have another (or more).

I am up for whenever. But I do have this Union Contract thing looming Apr 20th. So if they go on Stirke I am out.
Besides the awsome anual Spring mini, I would not mind attending a Gathering when Mammoth is open wall to wall.Own your fail. ~Jer~

Gotta say, if we don't get some serious snow, May and even late April might not happen... There is just not a lot of base and it is WARM today Prolly not warm enough for the bikini one fine chica was rocking today, but no one minded, and it was pretty darn warm out.
The snow guns have been uncovered between the top of 1 and 2. Still can't ski into Wipe's/Drops/Paranoids. Far skiers left of Stump is showing a few brownish spots just starting to show.He who has the most fun wins!

April is a decent month for me, I'll try to make it up for whatever date you guys lock down.
Skied solo on Friday and it was definitely low tide. Caught 4th chair up 23 and did about 5 laps, pretty uncrowded but the entrances were thin. I was doing my best to not turn in other peoples tracks since it seemed I was bottoming out about every 5th turn. The traverse out Dragon's back turned into a semi-hike since it was really thin in areas. I was noticeably out of rhythm in the trees on the tail trying to avoid rocks, logs and other peoples tracks. Overall a fun day though
Skeeze and his buddy then proceeded to kick my ass on the up out of bounds on Saturday morning, I was slacking
Pray for some spring storms to lay down some base snow before the mini

Whatever the date, I'll do my best to get there.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

I am really intent on making it this year and the sooner we have a date, the better.

Yeah, it looks thin, Piggity, but it looks like some nice turns were had.
I still hold hope for a big fukking dump this month to ease our fears of the shortest season in a decade or more!
How's 21-23 work for everyone?

Forgot that my family will be visiting that weekend. Another year and another missed mini for me, seems to be a trend

Missed the chick in the bikini.....
Last weekend was really fun, great turns in Climax, particularly far skiers right. I was also doing the traverse in P1, which was awesome. I did the rock walk down into P3, but only once.
The thing that sucks about the wipe/drop/noid situation, is that getting in is bony right now, if it gets warm, and things melt out, they will no longer be an option. The spring season is on very tenuous ground, Mammoth really needs more snow badly.
Late April might really suck. If there is no more snow, and there are some warm(as is normal in March/April) days, the entrances into the good terrain could be done. Mammoth keeps its snow pretty well, but there is so little in critical areas that a warm streak could kill things.
Much of the top stayed wintery last week, but parts of the traverse into P1, before you go under Monuments, were pretty slushy. If those sections melt out, it well be harder to get to the Monuments section, and even more of a slog to get into P1. With too much warm weather, and no snow, it could be a case of not being able to reach the areas of good snow.
Hopefully the stuff on the horizon matierializes.
Oh well, the skiing at Mammoth has been good the last few weekends, so I guess I should not complain. Sometimes it takes a low year to appreciate what you have.
Much better than Baldy
