Monster avalanche trashes French chair lift
oooops!
avalanche demolishes the bottom pylon of the Lauzier chair lift at St Francois Longchamps yesterday in the French Alps. The evacuation of around 40 people took until 6pm. There have been a lot of these babies around the Alps with the current heatwave.

That is so full of win for so many reasons!!
The nonchalant way the announcer describes it, only to be outdone by the nonchalant demeanout of the people skiing by and the relaxed nature of the PEOPLE ON THE LIFT!! The cherry on top is the French patroller with sunglasses and a beret. For those that don't speak French, the final classic statement: "the chair will be closed until next season"
This video is the best explanation of the difference between the Euro and North American perception and acceptance of avalanche risk in the mountains.
If i understand the translation, it was a natural slide, but every patroller dreams of setting of a slide that takes out a chair! I'm saving this vid so I can beat off to it later.Last edited by Clownshoe; 03-03-2012 at 11:14 AM.

French avalanches are le tired. They like to take a nap first, then destroy the lift tower.
Life is not lift served.

imagine having double ejected and your skis are lying 30 yards upslope and you start seeing this massive slow moving wall of death coming towards you. What do you do?
It would be like getting run over by a steam roller ala Fish Called Wanda.I thought their offices would be strewn with bunny-fucking and condom dispensers, a veritable enchanted forest of cock shafts and twat mist. - JoeStrummer

I've read the French have a "level of risk tolerance" that is Lindahlesque.

I would be petrified to be on that lift while that thing was coming down. I don't think the people filming from the chair how much danger they were potentially in.
