Tecnica Demon 110 vs 130 advise
Hi,
I am considering the Tecnica Demon 110 or 130 boots. I have been searching for info. on flex and haven't seen any non marketing (real world) feedback. I am currently in a pair of Tecnica Icon X's from about 10 years ago. Loved these boots but could be time for something new (popped rivets). Tecnica says that these boots had a flex index of 80. Seems pretty soft for what they were/are but what do I know. Maybe the way they arrive at the index number is different these days?
I have been skiing for 30+ years, avg. 40-60 days per season. I am 6 foot (on a good day), 180lbs., like to think I "charge" pretty hard, East coast skier. I like high speed ripping and also like bashing the bumps.
I am concerned about getting a boot that is too stiff, obviously numbers don't tell the whole story. If there is anyone out there using these boots, I would appreciate any insight.
Just trying to gleen as much info. as I can before I sit down with a boot guy.
Thread title .... I think I meant "advice"
Thanks.

best just to try the new boots on, in both flexes, and compare to your old boots to see how they feel BOTH in flex and fit.
remember: small boots can be made bigger, stiff boots can be made softer. So if you are not sure, go smaller and tighter.
I would say that IconX is 110ish.

The 130 flexes about the same as a Cochise to me. I would just go that route if you wanted a stiffer version. More expensive, but way more capabilities.

I'd guess 110 would be closer, but it's been a LONG time since I flexed those boots.

I'm the same size as you. I used to ski pretty stiff boots when I lived back east and was at least 10lbs lighter.
If you like to get forward and drive the ski, get the 130. If you find you're getting too tired at the end of the day, or something, take a bolt out of the back.No longer stuck.

Thanks guys. If there is a way to lighten the flex (if needed) that may be the way to go Stuck. Lol... "orange" .... Good one.

You have tried these on, right? You're merely asking about flex, not fit?

Honestly, no ... I went to my boot guy, he did not have my size in stock in either boot. I tried on a Tecnica Dragon but again it was not my size. I am trying to be as open minded as I can be. I have had a number of boot brands growing up. Thought I would never change from Nordica. When I switched to Tecnica I was in heaven. I trust my boot guy. He also carries Dabellos. I am trying to go in, listen to what he has to say, have a few boots in mind, and get to it. The 110's and 130's caught my interest. I think I have a pretty good idea of what I like, but I am yet to be sponsored, soooo ... I am trying to stay open.

I'm 5'9, 190, 58y/o, and with fresh snow I'll ski off piste on Sultan 94's, but as soon as it gets old/tracked I'll swap to Sultan 80's and ski piste, never intentionally do tracked out/bumps (old knees) and on my third season with the Dragon 110's. They're getting pretty scuffed but holding up fine.
