Luffski almost decapitates PearlJamEd
Yeah, so in light of all the Awesome Powder in the Wasatch today, I thought I would share one of our close calls today. I was intentionally skiing close to PearlJameEd to record his form so Jer could coach him. Seriously.

Insult to injury. A close up of him reaching for his wallet and rounding uphill and THEN you use him for traction.
Harsh!

[Chazz and Jimmy have just seen the decapitation caused by the Iron Lotus on video]
Coach: [confidently] Okay, so what do you say? Let's try an Iron Lotus.
Chazz: Are you nuts?
Jimmy: Wha...? We can't do that!
Coach: C'mon. What are you talking about? Look, after all these years, I know what went wrong. The physics were off; it was a man and a woman. That's why it didn't work. You're two men... you should be fine.

6 ski style patterns were identified based around the 6 movements that the heart can take whilst skiing: the first 3 movements are up/down, forward/back, right/left (as with an aircraft’s travel through space.) The second 3 movements are pitch, yaw and roll (as with an aircraft’s tilt axes.) Any of these movements can be taken individually and oscillated to create a turn sequence down a ski run (each point in the oscillation corresponds to a different point in the turn); or they can be mixed and matched for different effect. Ultimately, no pattern needs to be applied to create a turn sequence: only very slight muscular relaxations with the body remaining essentially straight and upright above the skis. Even still, these patterns are how heartcarving was born and gives carving massive variety.

Luffski for poster of the year! (Either that or the dude from Israel).

That dude needs to go back to the basics....
I would start by suggesting you untie his hands from his sides, And maybe explain that you don't initiate a turn by lifting your inside ski off the ground.

looks like a boot fitter needs to be called, heel lifting is a sign of not enough control in the front of your foot due to an improper fit! ski with the fall line

I see a clear violation of the Skier Responsibility Code (that would be point 8--do not let anyone video you skiing like a GAPER.)

Easy on Mr. PearlJamEd there guys. He's coming off a month long recovery from a bruised Fibula that was so swollen it would make anyone of you E-Badasses cry for your mommy. He rips (albeit in spurts) and is getting better. This is why I love TGR - no holds barred. Straight up RAW. You guys feed my addiction. However I did give him an ear-full about keeping his hands out in front and planting the poles as needed.
He blamed the poor form on following around all the Afterbangish Steeze Balls that ski Alta all backseat and slouchy. I reminded him that nobody cares that he skis at Alta.

thats gopro karma right there. If your memories are so bad that you cant recall a good day skiing without the goobercam footage, why pair it with music 16 year olds listen to.

Why does it look like he's trying to wrap his outside arm around the back of his inside knee every time he turns? Is he trying to reach across and plant his pole uphill from his body? Is he used to ski dancing, and was trying to pirouette at the end of each turn but was thrown off by the powder?
edit: that was mean. i am sorryLast edited by Captain Anal; 03-01-2012 at 09:55 PM.
