Brimarc brand on both sets of my pants. Key rings through the pants' belt loops, suspenders clipped to key rings then clips taped shut. Works for me.

You have 2 main choices, stretchable or fixed.
Best place to buy them are work/construction clothes store.
I have some Carhartt's that I love.

I wear them on my ski pants- have very little butt to hold them up and no belt loops on the pants. I purchased them from a department store on sale. Levi if I remember- because they have nice big beefy metal clasps to hold and grip. Nothing worst than having one break loose and fly up and hit you in the head or face. The ones with plastic grippers are not worth even trying.

I have a pair lying around that I don't use anymore...pretty sure I got them at a ski shop. If I can find them and you're interested I'll send them to you...

saftey orange husquavarna... although I also have a nice pair of red/greens that live on by bucking pants. Both bought at saw shops.

Moose Pit has it right.
I've used logging suspenders for years, they are tough, stretch and don't let go.
edit: They do get sweaty if you are hiking bc and they do not dry, so it can make you cold.
I use an elastic belt now for this reason in the bc.Last edited by DeathVan; 02-23-2012 at 02:13 PM.

I've always made mine or DIY modded them, but I currently avoid them. I prefer pants that have a high enough waist so that a belt works. But I acknowledge that some guys (although few women) need suspenders.

In the US they are called garters, PM Rontele.
In the UK they are suspenders, PNWBrit might wear them under that name
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

I have a set of Carhartt suspenders that I use. Beefy clasps, stretchy (but not wimpy) material, work great.

I wear them on my tool belt--got them from Home Depot. The ones on my ski pants came with the pants--I like half bib style shells--my kids think I look like a dork and I suppose they're right.

If you get the ones with the big metal clasps and they hurt you (sitting on chairlifts, wipeouts , etc.) then take them to a seamstress / tailor and have them sewn onto your pants. Way better than having the metal connectors.
That won't cost much, maybe $10.I have been training using videos of the radest dudes flying down chutes and couloirs to improve my mind-sphincter coordination.

old mont-bell suspenders - plastic clips - still sold extra US, not in the US because the boulder douche-sphere has placed greater emphasis on women's down skirts

Duluth Trading Post. I get the ones with the single plastic clamp on the side.

I've got a couple pair. One pair is blue, bought at the hardware store, metal clips, the elastic is pretty worn and they are paint splattered, from the years they spent on my tool belt, metal clips that grip everything, but run the risk of ripping car seat upholstery. The other pair is brand new, SWMBO bought them for me at a ski shop, plastic clips and they work only on one pair of Rossignol pants that hapen to be very thick at the waistband. Thinner pants, they just won't grap because the plastic bends.

$15 pair of "Hang-Ups" from MEC. Had a seamstress sew the back attachments into my pant waist since the clips kept pulling out when I ski with a pack, perfect ever since. So much better than any kind of belt.

I used suspenders on my ski pants for years, but always had problems with them popping off. I ended up removing the rear clips and sewing them in which cut the problem in half. Was bearable, but still a PITA. Fortunately the pants finally died a couple of years ago, and I bought a new pair - with belt loops. I use a tackla belt from an old pair of hockey pants, and it's 1000% better than suspenders. YMMV.
