That's the thing.....1500 used vs 2200 is stoopit. Not to mention what the old ones will be once the mk3 starts shipping. I'm going to just wait and see. Warranties are useful.
I'd almost rather just sack up for the new one. If only I hadn't spent so much money on a sled I've ridden like 8 times this year.

Sold my 5Dc today. It seemed like selling it for a good price now was the best move and then holding out for lower 5D2 prices.
I absolutely loved that camera so I hope I won't regret the upgrade to 5D2. I've read lots of internet chatter about the two and I suspect 5D2 will be as good or better in every way. Although according to some, there is horrible banding in the shadows, it can't render accurate skin tones, and you can only autofocus with the center point (which is how I shoot 99% of the time anyway)
Let the 5D2 price wars continue their downward spiral

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

Absolute bullshit. I've been shooting for 3 years with a 5D2 with none of these issues. Sure the AF leaves something to be desired, but if you focus and recompose or use the center AF point on servo, it's dead on. Banding in the shadows shows up when you try and push the shit out of the file a couple stops. Not noticeable under normal circumstances. Accurate skin tones aren't an issue either.
As for the price wars, the 5D2 is going to stay steady between 1500 for higher shutter counts and 1750 for low shutter counts. Sorry if you really think it's going lower. It's not. It's still $2200 new.

The one thing I do know for certain with the 5D2 prices are that those who are looking to buy believe it will drop and those that are looking to sell believe it will stay steady. Only time will tell though.
I'm just happy to have unloaded my 5Dc at a good price and can't wait to be shooting with a 5D2

I don't necessarily agree. People just assume the older model will go down when a newer one arrives, and that's true, when the price points are similar. I think the new 5D is priced high enough above the 5D2 to keep the cannibalization to a minimum. When Canon had the same rebate putting the 5D2 and 2k during Christmas, used prices didn't really budge at all. Either way, I gave a great price to another member for mine, and mine has less than 1k on it and a full warranty as it's 2 months old now.

And I thank you gregger

Patiently waiting for 5d3 shipping confirmation!"Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks."

Maybe I'm doing something wrong or just need to use it more. I tried to track my dog running at me using center point AI server, back button focus. 20 - 30 shots, probably less than 5 had the dog in focus. This was outdoors in good lighting so I'm not sure what else I could do better.

After spending some more time with AI Servo on the 5d2 I was definitely wrong, it seems more than usable. Not totally sharp at 100% but perfectly fine for posting to the web, I took probably 200 shots today and most of them were keepers as far as focus goes.
I did only use center point though, from what I've read it doesn't handle the outer points quite as well.

Good to see you're having a bit more success. I tend to shoot single shot with AI servo. I was having some of the same issues in burst mode (not tack sharp). I still love the 5D2. Rumor has it my local store will have stock on Monday. If so, I may pay the tax to get it in time for my trip to AZ.
