After 6 years Dalbello has completely redesigned the Krypton Pro and Cross for next year. Anybody tried them?

This is very interesting to hear

I also heard a rumor that Dalbello will be offering the Ladies versions down to a (real) 21.5, 257mm shell.

man. have to try these on soon. My soles are shot. pretty lame that there is no replaceable sole on the krypton pro. any info on the forward lean angles, the current krypton pros are dialed for me, hope the new ones aren't too crazy different.
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

I believe they are said to have a more upright stance.

I assume you had the stock, (not the ID) liner?

Video I saw indicates the 2013 Crosses have same last and fit as new Pros, but replaceable front and back inserts, that can also be swapped with Vibram versions. Screw in and out, said to be very easy. Crosses are pretty similar to Pros, maybe a hair softer lower shell, but you have to order the stiffer tongue or bootboard separately.

I'm in my second pair of kryptons, and still love them. I haven't skied the new versions yet, but I wonder if the "relief points" are going to cause problems. Not everyone's foot is shaped the same way. Seems like people might run into fit issues due to the pre-fitted features. Also, a little disappointed to hear about the more upright stance. One of the things I love is how angled the cuff is, and how you're already in that drive the ski hard stance. Beautiful looking boot though. Hopefully it's awesome like previous kryptons, and hopefully they finally put on strong buckles.

I love the flex and feel of my Krypts and do not want to settle for 2-piece shell boots again, but I need a big shell punch to accomodate my ankle bones. This is right where all three pieces of a cabrio type shell come together and it seriously messed up the feel and performance of my Krypts. It sounds like they have anticipated this issue with the new design, as well as resolved several other deficiencies of the "big box" no heel pocket current shell design which requires a liner fit, as opposed to a tight shell fit.

I look forward to info from anyone who has skied the new model, or at least tried some of them on.

Will the Lupo be available next season or is it still in prototype stage?

the lupo, without dyna inserts, won't overlap with the sherpa, which is the improved 2012-13 version of the virus. Dalbellos are working hard to put the lupo on the shelf as soon as possible, but AFAIK there is no release date yet

+1 on the "hope they don't fuck them up" thought.

Having only one season on mine, a 2010 model, I can say these are the best alpine boots I have ever had. The adjustable range they have makes them far and away the best thing since sliced bread to me. Replaceable Din soles might be nice.

first off i feel the original krypton is one of the best boot designs on the market and have always wanted to be able to ski a pair, but my foot is to wide and mostly i have far to tall and instep to fit in the old style kryptons, so needless to say i was super stolked to try on the new pair, i typically ski in a 27 shell with a pro wrap int liner. and i tried on the 26.5 sample they had at the rep show when i was checking out the new product before i placed the orders for the shop i work at, and was oh so pleasantly suprised with how they fit, a fair bit more room on the instep which is great for me and 1mm wider last does not hurt, it is deffinitly a very much different fit from the previous krypton more spacious all around really. im glad to see are they are keeping the krypton 1 shape though in a couple models and not just phasing it out. but if your that person who always wished you could ski in a krypton boot but your foot was just too tall you may be in luck, i know what ill be skiing in next year.

weak. I really like them because they are finally a boot that is 98 last and NOT too spacious. I really love a close near race fit.... hmm might have to find a 11-12 pair and stock up for the apolocalypse.

Sitting here at work with both on my feet at the moment and here are my thoughts... The original krypton fits people with narrower feet and a lower instep, the kr2 has amazing heel retention out if the box, because of the scorpion influences in the boot. But is wider than the scorpion throughout the arch and 6th toe, my foot was swimming in it while the scorpion locked me into place snugly. it's not suffice to say that if one has a krypton foot they will fit into the kr2. I have been skiing krypton a for 8 years and will not be buying kr2s. NOTE: I was only able to to try the stock versions of the boots, the Id liner takes care of the known heel hold problems in the kr1, and I'd imagine a medium volume power wrap may take care of the forefoot slop in the kr2. I'll experiment and report back

I'm wearing my pair. I've been tortured by boots for the past couple years and I've thought I had wide feet but it turns out they're D. I'm pretty pleased I've worn them for an hour here and there and they feel pretty damn good, no bad hot spots.

haven't even tried the kr2 on yet but when i heard it was more upright with the scorpion last i was pretty much sold. you're making my decision easier as to which to get, the scorpion fits my foot almost perfectly out of the box and i am in love with the way they ski so i'll probably stick with them instead of switching it up as i had planned. not sure i'd be happy with the flex of the kr2 either, the scorpion 130 feels perfect and i can't imagine the kr2 is on the same level.

I was playing with them yesterday and will be having a pair in my boot quiver. The Two is longer in length than the One and the inside of the shell is actually shaped like foot. Along with having a better fit than the previous generation, the stance is much more modern, by that I mean upright. The zeppa has less ramp and the cuff has better positioning.

I did fit a pair of the 21's on a customer today that had no luck in the 21 Tecnica's. The 21 is a true 21 with an actual heel pocket, good job here.

^^^^ http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...lbello-KR2-Pro See my post at the bottom of thread about fit. Will add that I tried 2012 Scorpion last season in shop, as I recall fit was nothing like 2012 K, seemed very close to this year's Fusion/K2, although flex and feel over front obviously are different. Been a year, though, so...
