Review: Jones Hovercraft 156
Jones Hovercraft 156 - AKA the pow slayer...
Second season on this stick in Whistler. Ridden it all over the PNW in powder, chop, bulletproof ice, groomers....
I didn't expect it to be such a versatile board - it's awesome everywhere but the park - and if you ride switch a lot.
I don't even ride my park board that much anymore, unless I'm specifically set on riding park or groomers that day (i.e. the conditions really suck) - its that good.
Needless to say its f-in awesome and effortless in powder - it has a really surfy feel and your legs last forever.
The long rockered nose pops you off and out of everything and it has a really even flex to it.
One thing to note about this board - When I first did bigger drops on it I was leaning too far back and washing out on the landings as I was used to riding a twin.
You can pretty much land drops on this thing with your weight centred because of its naturally setback stance and swallowtail.
AND ITS A 156!
It turns on a dime and floats better than 165cm boards I've ridden. It's also a lot lighter.
IMO this is the best pow board on the market due to the design and if you ride somewhere where it generally snows often you will probably just ride it everyday as I have done as it handles variable conditions surprisingly well.
