You Were Right! Capitalists are EVIL!!!

    http://gma.yahoo.com/golden-parachut...-abc-news.html

Golden Parachutes: 21 CEOs Landed $100M Plus

...Hodgson helped gather data for GMI's report that included executive packages from 2000 until 2012. While the company has been gathering information on executive compensation since it was founded in 2000, this is the first time the findings have been published in a comprehensive report.

...In all, companies like GE, Exxon Mobil Corp., AT&T and Home Depot Inc., have collectively provided nearly $4 billion in golden parachutes.

This didn't go like I thought it would. I was waitng for all you douches to moan and wail about how CEO's suck the economy of money and screw the workers out of higher incomes. Since nobody played along my point is rather anti-climatic.

    BUT

I did notice that the $4B that these greedy evil CEO's raped from the working man over 12 years is the equivalent of about 6 hours of Federal Government spending.

    That is all.

    Is your point -

it's the equivalent of 6 minutes of federal spending, so it's ok

    or

    America is very very big

My point is, as much as these douches rail against business for their immoral income disparity, and too low tax rates, the "tyranny" that big business may be capable of is a drop in the bucket compared to what the government does to us.

Looking to the government to protects us from the evils of free market capitalism is like asking the Chineese military to protect America against The Trench Coat Mafia.

HBM buried all our threads so... MOAR KEYSTONE XL MUSINGS:

Hmm one has to ask why they are running an extension of the 36" pipeline to the TAX FREE port at Freeport Texas were they can load Super Tankers offshore? And One has to wonder why over 400,000 barrels a day of gasoline and diesel made in AMERICAN refineries is being sent to foreign countries. YET we are asked to believe that building a pipeline from the WORLD's LARGEST STRIP MINE to Freeport , Texas is somehow PATRIOTIC and will benefit AMERICANS. Folks the whole point of running the pipeline fron Canada to Texas is to sell the Chinese and Japanese TAX FREE DIRTY CRUDE.

Well we would need to look at how the CEO's benefited their shareholders. If the shareholders lost their money then that would be a problem. The Government spending could be going to payroll keeping people paying taxes, buying cars, houses, boats....... Also helping shareholders. Question is who helps the shareholders more a dump rich kid who fell into a great job or 10000's of consumers?
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Government spending can not create jobs.

Why? Because they have to get money from somewhere. Every dollar they spend is a dollar taxed that won't be spent in the free market or a dollar printed that devalues the rest of the dollars leading to inflation and more unemployment.

For every job the government "creates" there is at least one job somewhere else that doesn't get created.

The best the government can do is create a small "bubble" of jobs that has to burst somewhere down the road. "Creating" a job that the market isn't demanding naturally, just for the sake of creating a job, is a net loss in the long run.

Continuing the "battle of wits with an unarmed man", for some reason.

Teh stoopid above ignores the obvious as usual. Dollars spent on many government activities build national wealth (would the US be richer or poorer if the Interstate system had never been built?), especially investments in infrastructure like roads, bridges, sewer systems, airports, sidewalks and investments in public safety, health and education (like schools, universities, FDA, EPA, FBI, SEC, etc.).

Obviously some public spending has higher public returns ($600 DOD toilet seats are low return, for example). But the same is true for private spending, how does a Jonas Brothers CD, Hostess Twinkie or a 32 oz Coca-Cola increase our national wealth?

ALL wealthy countries have decided to prioritize some public expenditures and to fund them with tax revenue, because via the democratic process, those public expenditures were judged worthy of public investment. And yes, investments in infrastructure and public services create millions of jobs, jobs that create more national benefit than many/most jobs in the private sector creating disposable consumer crap that quickly ends up in trash can (soon to be emptied by a public sector worker).

All of this should have been learned in an elementary school Civics class, but clearly DBT missed or failed grade school Civics, so he needs to "re-invent the wheel" as far as the basic functions of civilization.

In Somalia there is no government investment, and the beloved "private sector" gets to dispose of all funds and "create jobs" without government interference. Surprisingly enough, the Somaliam private sector has not created sewers, trash disposal, roads, law enforcement, or any of the other required components of civilization, or many jobs either, because absent government support private markets fail to function and revert to kleptocracy and piracy. And Somalia does create some "good jobs" for pirates, despite the low life expectancy. But, hey, the taxes are low.

I like your post, but this one is obvious. When we can trick other countries into buying this stuff ^, it increases our national wealth.

You don't need arms to engage in a battle of wits. Are you discriminating against those who have the physical hanicap of being armless? Next thing you know you'll be telling legless people they can't debate the issues too.

Omama had $850B to spend. None of it went to anything like that. It was all dumped down the drain of crony capitalism and unionism.

You also have NO idea what America's transportation system would look like without the Federal Government subsidizing rubber wheeled transportation with TRILLIONS of dollars of tax payer money. But thanks for the global warming assholes.

In many cases there would be no share holders without a person with pre-existing wealth to provide the venture capital to get a company off the ground so it can grow to be a public company with share holders. They system needs both. Wealth is good. So are run on sentences.

why I like DbT, it's like arguing with your FUN and FUNNY brother in-law that you don't quite see eye-to-eye with, but with whom you still would chop wood, or build a fence, or go skiing etc. Jer fits the bill too. Rubi and ilc are more like that creepy condescending step-uncle that you see only at Thanksgiving and you don't really want your kids around...
