Parc de la Gaspesie
Don't forget to bring your skis and plan a trip in Ontario's interior.

I have been training using videos of the radest dudes flying down chutes and couloirs to improve my mind-sphincter coordination.

It is located in Ontario (just north of Buffalo). Get your geog right, man!
Recreational Area Map:

Looks pretty decent to me. Not sure why you think there is no good back-country skiing in the East?

Been there? Have something to share?

I don't know what you are talking about? I'm pretty sure I had my Avy course in PEI.
I have one TR (not the avy course) beyond the Parc's limit.
Edit: hard to say from the edge, but the guy checking the snowpack looks like the one that gave us the Avy course back in 2008. We bumped into him in May 2009 and he talked about having a old snowmobile thing (as seen in the video).

^^ Ya. That would be ONTARIO. That's where the Chic Chocs are (pronounced shick-shock.) Fun is happening there and they have their own avalanche bureau.
Re: http://www.vertigo-aventures.com/photos_mt-blanc.html That looks fun
My wife and went snow-shoeing there and it was some of the nicest snow we found yet. Really deep nice powder. Huge drifts all along the highway as we drove there from Toronto.
We skied at Le Massif and was equaly impressed by the snow and conditions. They have a new Off Piste area: http://www.lemassif.com/en/montagne/pistes/hors-pistes) We didn't get to do that since it was not open yet.
Le Massif ...

As an ex-Quebecer, it's one of the places I've always wanted to check out, even though I now live in the big mountains. One day I'll have to get a trip together.

I grew up in the Gaspesie about a 2 hr drive from the heart of the park and I haven't skied the area. I didn't have my 'mountain awakening' until sometime in university. I was too busy playing hockey and chasing puck bunnies.
I've hiked a few of the peaks/plateaus though, and it was gorgeous. With that being said, I still prefer the western ranges.

Base depths= 20"-40". Very thin, and quite a few rain crusts this year. I don't think anywhere out west has that low of a snow pack.

Old new brahs!
Skier magazine did a really nice profile of the area, with a bunch of Whistler based Quebecers (inc. Hugo Harrison) back in 2001 or 2002. Avy broke a dude's leg on that trip.

Now that we are giving names out... François is the one that gave us the AST1 course. He is also the one checking the snowpack in one of the initial video posted in this thread.
I also believe that he's pictured in the one of the pictures of random people from an old FIS TR.
François is the one that runs Vertigo.
Listen to Jumpturn and make sure you don't go to NB to find him.Ski Mad World

Its very cool but depending on where you live on the EC the drive is super long.
If someone asked me to do it again I would just say lets drive west instead. You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?

If the Chic Chocs aren't far enough...then there is Gros Morne in Newfoundland. What? Still too accessible? What about the Torngats?
GM is on my "to-do list" (even the Torngats to a certain extent) which I've misplaced somewhere between the Andes and the Alps.
