Yesterday, we went on a nice gentle tour to the Col de Beaugeant, to ski down the north side into the Berard Valley. Beautiful sunny weather, slightly colder (which was very welcome) than two days previous when we toured to the Col de Belvedere. Not an awful lot to see here in the way of stoke or gnar or steep, but hell - it was a wonderful day in the hills with good friends and good views. What more do you need from a tour?
Getting to the Lac Blanc refuge
Looking up at Col de Belvedere, the trip of two days' previous. Can anyone see the line at the top of my hit list?
Up this apron and round the corner to the right...
...nearly there...
...but a little bit of climbing first. No need to rope up today, just crampons and axes.
Lunch at the top - one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Baguette, one half buttered and the other half mustered (mustard, see?), then cold sliced rump steak, sliced cornichons, slabs of foie gras, salad leaves, and sun dried tomato paste. It was incredible.
A short rap over the rock at the top, before the slope opens out onto a beautiful wide glacier
To the victor, the spoils!
And down into the Berard Valley.
