I ended up getting eg2's. They're pretty good but they seem to fog.

I can't comment on eg2's but i've got friends who have had issues with the mirror coating coming off the fishbowls, warrenty support was great however. So with that mind hopefully the eg2's work as promised.

    BRING BACK THE G6/BIG ASS!
ScottUSA discontinued them because of warranty issues. The lens was too brittle and inflexible. We pulled all of them off our shelves and sent them all back.

I find Smith Fuse to fit my fat head quite well.

Optic nerve makes a frameless that i like and has a really good field of vision. Interchangable (really pretty fast change too).

Alos this year i got to try out Salomon Xtend. I really liked the optics and the field of vision was very good as well. I dont know if these are interchangable. I only have one lens with mine.

I tried on a pair of Oakley Airbrakes thinking their large size would give a great FOV, but was sorely disappointed. Is this the case for everyone or do I just have a weird head/face shape? I've used A-Frames for over a decade because I've lucked out with a good seal and no fogging issues.

I know you were inquiring about goggles, but you may be interested in taking a look at OSBE Helmets. OSBE makes a helmet with an integrated visor that offers a FOV far superior to a traditional goggle.

    http://www.osbeusa.com/

The OSBE solution doesn't come without it's challenges but it certainly offers a great FOV. Lenses are interchangeable for different lighting conditions, although you'd likely need to make a choice at the beginning of the day as to which lens you are going to use as they appear too bulky to carry with you. Also, I'm not sure how it would perform in deep powder, as face shots may very well result in snow getting underneath the visor. Fogging may be an issue with this design as well. Finally, they are very "unique" looking compared to more traditional helmet/goggle combo. You may not like this product from an aesthetic standpoint.

All that being said, I've run into several people using this product in the last couple of seasons and everyone who has purchased one has said that they love it...primarily for the incredible FOV.

    Hope this helps.

Just heard that Quiksilver/Travis Rice claim that their new Hubble goggle has the best FOV of any goggle on the market, with virtually no part of the frame being visible with the goggles on. I've always thought Quiksilver goggles fit like crap, but I might need to search these out to try on. Oakly also has a new goggle for '13 - the Canopy - that's supposed to be their first oversized goggle with wide FOV. Oakley's have never fit my huge flat face though, so I'm not holding out much hope for the Canopy.

I was able to ride an Oakley Canopy on a demo day, and I felt like I had tunnel vision when I put my airbrakes back on.

Damn, guess it wasn't just me then. I was really hoping the Airbrake would be my solution to carrying a second pair of goggles with me just for a different lens. (The I/O doesn't fit me well). Thanks for the opinion.

Sounds like a problem with the lens, not the goggle, no? Besides, those goggles were around for many years...if the lenses were always a problem they'd have pulled them after the first couple seasons...

Whatever. Scott makes brand new goggles every year which are all exactly the same and fit little elf heads. You'd think they could remember to make ONE SINGLE MODEL for people with big heads who like to see where they're going.

Hopefully one of the companies making 'oversized' goggles will get it right one of these days. I tried on a pair of Dragons that was almost equal to a Fishbowl...but there are a lot of other things I'd rather spend $200 on, and no one has figured out that you have to make the goggle shallow on the outer edges in order to get peripheral vision.

It's not hard, people. Give me an hour in a room with some industrial designers and we'll get this shit straightened out.

Well on that front, the airbrake really is one of the only options. I'm not a huge fan of the I/O either. I'm willing to put up with a little smaller FOV for the convenience of carrying an extra lens or two around. That being said, I'll probably still buy a canopy with a dark lens to use on bluebird days when there isn't a cloud to be found for 3 states and I know lighting conditions won't really change.

I feel like either one would be an upgrade over an A-frame though.

I carry spare eg2 lenses. Pretty quick and easy to change.

Where did you get em? And did you spend $50 or whatever for them?
Perhaps you'd be more comfortable on epicski or Paula's Ski Lovers, AltaNancy.

Yea they weren't cheap but the goggles came with 2 pairs of lenses. Both scratched.

    New contender!

I tried on a pair of Spy Platoons and they're actually quite good...they don't look as ginormous as EG2s or VZ Fishbowls, but the FOV seems like it's just as wide. (It's not as big up/down as an EG2, but side to side is excellent.)

Bonus: they don't smash my nose like most goggles. These are on my short list, and might actually win if I can find a lens tint I like.

Tried on some Oakley Airbrakes: no dice. They're big for Oakleys, but that's not saying much.

Fuck, back to this again. EG2's are ok, prism effect sucks and if you look at them hard they scratch. I ended up skiing 4 of 5 laps in waist deep blower and snowing hard with naked eyes this weekend because the eg2's fogged and were useless. Those platoons look pretty good.

Anyone know if the I/OX actually has a bigger FOV than the I/O? I read some review on Backcountry.com (I think) that said while the lens is bigger, you don't actually get a wider FOV. I have a pair of I/O which I like (first goggle I've actually used the lens switch features in) but would like a slightly bigger FOV as I have a massive skull.
