Yeah, I do apologize for the length, but I did try to cut out as much unnecessary material as possible. Thanks for reading, anybody who made it all the way through.
whyturn: Don't be afraid of the turn radius. Seriously. They ski much easier than their turn radius would indicated. I was afraid of the 190 L120's 46 m turn radius until I got on them. Like I said, easier to ski than the 186 Rens. I'm willing to bet the same is true of the 200 L120 and the 196 Rens. That said, it seems like you'd love the 202 L138 for that gap you've currently filled with Megawatts and Pon2oons. Straight tape pull is like 197.5, so don't be afraid of the length either. I plan on making a big road trip this winter—will definitely let you try mine if our paths cross. Plus, the L138 and Ren skis similar enough that I don't have to fully readjust my style."Alpine rock and steep, deep powder are what I seek, and I will always find solace there." - Bean Bowers

I will take you up on your offer and I will road trip it as well. Hopefully we can meet up and ski togetherI need to go to Utah.

Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

Was that the 192 or 202? Something about the 192 never seemed right to me either: too much splay for the length [Edit: to be clear, I've never skied a 192 L138]. But the 202s rock! I personally prefer the R2 (black with the bamboo sidewalls) because the charge harder and carver better than the R3.2, but I've only spent one PNW cement pow day on the newer ones.
Guess "scared" wasn't the right word, but I was worried the L120 would be an open-spaces-only ski. It's not at all.
Would love to jump on the 196 Renegades myself!Last edited by auvgeek; 07-31-2012 at 01:40 AM.

Are you going to have a pair of 120's this year or not? If you do, I promise I will get something new as well so we can spend our days comparing various skis that all excessively overlap each other.

Thanks for the chuckle B. Nah, I have no need for the L120 (particularly since my buddy has a pair I can take a few runs on occasionally). Didn't really have a need for the 191 BG either, but I couldn't resist after skiing your pair. Don't worry, I'm gonna sell off some stuff in the fall.
But out of curiosity, what would you get?
EDIT: But if you're going to compare skis, it makes more sense to compare ones that "excessively overlap each other" than it does to compare a GS ski to a L138..."Alpine rock and steep, deep powder are what I seek, and I will always find solace there." - Bean Bowers

I have not decided.
I supposedly have a pair of 196 Bodacious somewhere, but I have yet to see those.
I still really want a pair of 196 Renegades. The larger sized Sage/Dana Atomic looks like a lot of fun, I doubt I would buy them, but if I can find a pair (unlikely)....
The Praxis Swallow tail is intriguing.
Most likely I will take a crazy idea down to scott, and see if he will build it.
Otherwise I will have a pair of sally rocker 108s in a few weeks or so.

I have a pair of 186 rens and 190 112 RPs. I've had the renegades for two years and bought the rp 112s last year. I probably only skied the RP 112s about 5 times last year. It might be dependent on skiing style but I think that the renegades are better skis in every condition unless you're dragging yourself uphill.
In pow with the rens you can plane, porpoise, bite into the snow and air your turns easily. I found it a struggle to do any of this on the RP 112s, when I brought them out in pow tough to make them do anything other than plane on the snow.
In variable conditions, no competition, rens dominate. Same goes for hardpack.
That being said, the DPS are a lot easier to ski and don't require as much effort. If I've had a few beers over lunch I would rather be on the RP 112s.
