Finally got out to ski yesterday after a week of dealing with the agonizing pain of kidney stones. Fun speed laps off of Ramcharger in the morning/early afternoon and then made it up the triple right before they shut it down for wind. 4 gullies laps in an hour to end the day, really fun inch or two of wind loaded snow on top of hard pack, perfect day to bring my old school 198 cm gs skis up the tram!

Has anyone tried using the Rossignal ski persuit app? GPS said I was routinely hitting the mid 70's mph on Bighorn and Ambush, with a top speed of 81.9!!! Definitely felt like I was going fast, but I have no idea how accurate those things are.

Anybody know the story of the chopper rescue in the Snowfield on Sunday? I heard some chick took a spill down Great Falls, but no details.

I agree the entrance from the gate to the snowfield is terrible...especially in whiteout conditions with the hudge "moguls"....I just duck the rope on the Lake side...smooth all the way to the snowfield...

Yeah - the ramp is fucked. Not sure if patrol was just screwing with me, but when I suggested they "put a snowcat down it" I was told that was actually occurring next year. Winch-cat would be used on Liberty and the ramp. Was also told that gear would again be required next year.

All told, though - the snowfield has been skiing great the past week. Wind groomer and carveable. Just not Rips. And apparently not for that woman, unfortunately.

Nice conditions up on the snowfield yesterday with about 6 inches of pow on carveable crust. I went down early, then went down again right after lunch and the patroller in the shack said they had sent more than 250 people down it already, maybe just because it was the best conditions on the mountain.

I guess they don't even require a partner anymore? I was skiing alone. Obviously there were a couple of people around, but not as many as I would have thought. Which was just fine.

Headwaters was good, too. And the gullies were sweet once they opened them. Crons was fluffy as usual. The day as a whole exceeded my dust-on-crust expectations.

Looks like closing weekend will have some good corn skiing. Been a great season. Time to celebrate!

    What a great season !

Today was a great way to end it, mellow skiing on a laid back Easter Sunday with a big group of friends and all their kids.

THANK YOU ALL EMPLOYEES OF BIG SKY AND MOONLIGHT FOR PROVIDING ME WITH MY BEST SEASON EVER !

Nice lookin vacation Eco, can't wait to do some touring now that low hangin fruit season has fully had it's way with me.

Went a few rounds with the scree last week, it was worth the price of admission.

Here Pnut thinks were skiing over a hundred footer, relax dude it's only like 60.

Big Sky dirtbags are a persistent breed, but they graciously left us a few acres in the backyard to play on.

I have to appreciate the aesthetic aspects of skiing more and more these days, sigh.

I wanted to wait for the light but other committed degenerates were on to us.

    Papa Pnut and "kids"

Amazing what a little refresh can do.

Does anybody have some info on what the Big Sky Sky Card will cost for the next season? I am trying to decide between Bronze Pass and Sky Card, and the price for the Bronze Pass goes up tomorrow, while the Sky Card is still at "TBA".

Not sure about next year, but I think it was $69 last year if you bought it by September 30. (They did the same thing last year and did not release the Sky Card price until later in the summer for some reason.) You could call guest services and ask, but if they haven't released the price officially I don't think it will do you much good to call.

Nice work gentlemen, my favorite pictures of the year there. Sorry I missed it but ah, the perils of responsibility can extract a heavy toll at times. I don't have much as vision has been a luxury on most of my recent days out.

    SlAypril at the hill!

    Facedeep!

At least the sun's not nuking it!

Just gimme the next fix, preferably blue and white and steep all over.

From Kris Erickson's blog, a heartfelt recollection about the day Hans Saari died in the Alps...some of you probably knew Hans. Worth reading.
