Yeah, I saw that too. It is annoying how many businesses around here pay total crap. Can't believe they even bother advertising for $8/hr. No way can that even come close to paying the bills around here, and offering wages like that in this particular area is simply insulting, and those employers deserve to struggle if they're not willing to pay a fair wage. On the flipside, I've heard the labor force here generally blows and it's extremely difficult to find anybody with any sort of work ethic. Too many trustafarains? Perhaps too many spoiled kids whose parents buy a condo and car for them, and let their boyfriends/girlfriends crash there too (I've seen a LOT of that here). Those folks also drive the wages down as they don't exactly need much more than enough money for PBR, weed, gear and ski passes. I've talked to several business owners around here who start at $15-20/hr for general labor, with a good chance of a quick raise as soon as you prove you're worth your salt. They've told me that even at those starting wages for unskilled labor, they have the hardest time getting help. One of my friends here said he hired 3 guys one week, and not one bothered even showing up for their first day. Didn't call, text, nothing. Just never showed. And this is a super great guy who would be honestly be awesome to work for.

Either way, our whole area certainly is about to go through some growing pains. Not sure what to think about the whole TEDD thing as I don't know enough about it, but hopefully we'll get things figured out pretty well before we grow too much more.

By the way, has anybody noticed the major increase in California plates around here this Summer? Notice a correlation with all the new construction and impending boom? They're baaaaaaaaaaaack! Be prepared for another boom and its subsequent bust, everybody.

Absolutely. That, and the fact that California has had a string of parched winters and Bozeman has not, has me thinking that they word is out and there and will be a lot more that winter here. As long as the valley maintains its own identity; I'm fine with it.

After getting the email from Matchstick today, I see that Days Of My Youth is NOT playing in Bozeman this year. Granted, there's a showing up in Big Sky. Still, for us valley folk ...

fucking lame. Hey Matchstick, for every premiere you don't have in Bozeman, there are about 700 people who will pirate your movies instead of paying you. bummer eh?

To cap it off, it's on a Saturday with an MSU home game. Granted, I'm probably in the minority here, but that's kind of poor planning.
I'll still buy a copy, but fucking lame that there's no showing in Bozeman. I miss going to that gong show, swilling a few smuggled beers, heckling the rent-a-cops and hollering at the gnar along with everyone else.

I remember going to the TGR premiere for "Under the Influence" and thinking that Bozo film premieres were the best thing since beer. But then the theater started being crabby about all the booze and weed. LAME.

Im traveiling to Bozeman for a Level 2 Avalnche course in January, Picked Montana for a diffrent snowpack than California and the Knowldege in the area. Also Plan to Ski a Resort one day, Any Suggestions on a Hotel to stay that you can walk around the town and is a shuttle avaliable to get to the resort or should I rent a car? Cheers

There is a shuttle to Big Sky, and there is sort of a shuttle to Bridger, but if you want to ski Bridger I would suggest renting a car. The shuttle to BigSky is called the "skyline shuttle" and it has a website. You can pay cash to the driver for a one time ride(you only pay on the way up). It stops at Walmart a few times in the morning, and then at campus and the mall. Not really any hotels near any stops except walmart.

As for hotels, I really don't know. You might just want to get a car anyway. And dress warm, the level 2 this past season was a -5 degree field day.

Man are there some bad comments on that story, I particularly liked this one:

"I know this site is fake, but after reading it I went to other sites from real meteorologists. Don't rule this out just yet. From what I read, we could be in for a really rough winter if the conditions don't change. But it's no guarantee, still a little too early to be a sure prediction."

That person could be a TV weatherperson.

Yes. I know that Northern Lights does AT demos and rentals. I'm sure there are one or more shops up in Big Sky that also rent.
