Yah, Big Sky was most excellent on Saturday. I was shocked to see how busy it was. At one point, I'm pretty sure you could see the tram line from space. Nonetheless, we managed to get one lap in and Gullies to Crons is as good as it's ever been. The tourons must have been lapping Liberty because it was barely skied ...
All in all, it was a great way to close out the season.

I spent Saturday over on Andesite...glad it was better up high. Early morning was good on Andesite but by about 10 the sun was baking everything and the new snow was stabbing up and sliding on the rock hard icy bed layer in Snake Pit. No fun.
Sunday was better, less people, and somewhat drier conditions.

SW Montana crew- allow me one spam post. TGR has pulled together some sweet prizes for a contest by the maggots, for the maggots:
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ot-POV-Contest
We want to do it again next year, but we really need participation from all of you guys this year to get it off the ground. This season's contest is not limited to footage from this year- go back into your archives and pull out your sickest stuff. Or best beaters.
Thin year or no- I know there's good stuff out there from previous seasons. Would love to see you guys fill up your region with some good edits.

whoa... now i'm really curious about those tracks.
i loved that the couloir closed today because of mountain goats kicking down rocks. guess that's what we get for poaching their mountain.

Northeast Face Direct, nice, that doesn't get done often even in big years. Looks pretty clean, but who knows. Really cool to see those tracks, I wonder if it was patrol, or a poach, or if they actually let somebody ski it. Thanks for the excellent shot.

I would say patrol. I know they got permission last year for the face directly under the tram and there was enough snow for a traverse into dobies.

Word is that it was a poach...but of course no one "knows who did it." Same thing happened last year on a slightly different line - more directly under the tram cable.

It was bluebird at 8am this morning but it's since clouded over up on Lone Peak and things are pretty hard. Stay low and soft IMO. Maybe andesite trees.
Also to the 9 year old who just rocked the Big...well done.
And expect to wait in an insane liftline for Swifty.Last edited by OverTurn; 04-14-2012 at 12:06 PM.

POND SKIM

SO much fun on the mtn today. I pulled my first pond skim in full gaper attire. Launched the jump, spread eagle, and wiped out. Oh well. Didn't want to just go straight.
Time to go party
