I skipped reading this entire thread until now. This is the ski I have been waiting for, good work. Seriously tempted. What's the order deadline?

You have got to have the order in before the 12th. With an expected finish date the 31st.

This is exactly the kind of silly shit that makes me open a closet door in july and think "4 new pairs of skis this year, seriously?"

10 points to praxis for throwing down on this so fast and i'll be stoked to check out the end product.
No, the real point is, I don't give a damn

    Dear Praxis,

Thank you for not making any in 180.

You saved me almost 2 months living money that I would have struggled to replace.

yes pay attention to the whole article (near the end). i ordered before the article and waiting would have made things slightly better. like 10% better...

They're nowhere near as stiff as the 191 Bro Fats.

He and I have will have like 6 new pairs of skis between us (including the WooTest), so we plan to do alot of reviewing once the snow starts falling consistently. Anyway, sorry for the threadjack. Stoked on this.
    Nice!

Let me know what you think, you guys have all our friggin snow up there this year.

I'm 5'8" and ski the 188 protests with zero complaints.

Just sayin. They do ski short. You're not the only one who's asked for that length though.

If these end up being well received, they may be available in another length in the future. Thanks again for all the interest. Stoked to hear people's impressions.

Ski ordered. 196, UHMW top sheet, medium flex. Still obsessing over flex, went with medium, possibly could have gone with stiff. Excited ski this thing!

    done and done.

We better have snow by the time this guy shows his beautiful face.

So great how this is working out. Honestly, ARpowhound and I had been saying the same things about the spats and how we wish someone would make one. This will be the touring machine, powder slayer!!!

I think you were the one saying you'd like the CRJs if the tail was a little narrower too right?

    That pretty well describes this.

Just read through the ski spec page and the blister write-up -- nice!

Without reading through 15 pages of this thread...

what's the difference between the topsheets? (fleece nylon vs. ultralight nylon vs. UHMW) -- I gather that the ultralight nylon is from the Praxis Backcountry ski, but the other two?

What's the target weight for the 187?

The nylons are pretty and shiny, the UHMW is tougher and more durable but kind of washes out the graphics.

The nylon is what's been on the Praxis skis the last few years.

I don't know that Keith has a 'target weight'. You know his skis though, they're far from heavy.

Me neither - with two different email addys - but I know the dealeo.

Keith needs a PR/tech/graphic design person. Someone who could handle emailings, the website (it isn't the worst site, but there's room for improvement) and "branding". That way he could concentrate on what he does best - making killer skis.

A suggestion... sollyfit plates. This ski has 'touring' written all over it.

So i ordered the medium flex skis but am now debating whether to change to the stiff. I'm tall and pretty skinny 6'3" 180, but have been touring on pretty stiff ON3P's the last 2 years. I'm not worried about the medium flex being a noodle, but comparisons of medium and stiff flex to some other non-praxis skis might be helpful. Thanks

Love the idea behind this ski. Want to get on board but must sell original Protests first.

The regular Praxis Protest felt softer than my brother's Cease and Desist, but not by a whole lot. My guess is that the stiff version would be on par with the C&D. Neither is as stiff as the brown BD Zealots or the 191 Bro Fat. FWIW.

wow! i was deterred from reading this thread consistently w all the actual 'tech talk' in here, but now i see there's an actual ski being produced! holy shit...

gotta go do some research on the protests. i ski on Praxis BC and Concepts (telemark) and love them, but have been looking for a rocker/rocker slarve machine for big pow days.

i wonder if this might fit the bill?

Order placed! Went with the 187, BPS graphics on lightweight topsheet, medium flex. Really debated stiff or medium, but I think the medium fits my intended use and the rest of my quiver better.
